[This chapter is very short, comparable only to chapter 2.  Partly because large
portions of the original story simply don't happen with no Akane, and partly
because Mikado and Azusa are one-shots and I really don't want to waste a lot
of time on them.  If anyone has suggestions for what else could happen in
this story, include them in your CC....]

What has gone before: In a world where Akane never existed, Ranma and Ukyou,
still thought by classmates to be female and male, have just just defeated the
Gambling King.  The next challenge is against the Golden Pair for Ranma's hand
and for Ranma's pet pig Charlotte, who is really his's old enemy Ryouga....

                              Chapter 6: Ice Queens

    Ranma and Ukyou were at the rink again, practicing for the big fight.
If they continued the way they were going, they would have practiced falling
down enough times to have gotten really good at it.  They stood up, fell,
and slid in a completely directionless manner.
    Unfortunately, one of the random directions that Ranma took was in the
direct path of Mikado Sanzenin.  Mikado gently caught her.  "It's a shame
that you and Ukyou should fight against me.  He's not even a gentleman."
Mikado leaned forwards to kiss Ranma, unable to get enough traction on the
ice to escape from his grip.  Fortunately, Mikado's partner Azusa, watching,
was not particularly happy about the idea and came to Ranma's rescue by
kicking Mikado on the chin.
    The next complainant was Ukyou, who wasn't going to just stand around
while some guy tried to kiss her fiancee.  She could at least stay on her
own two feet much of the time, only falling when doing special moves, and
threw several miniature spatulas at Mikado.  "That's what this whole fight is
about!  You can't just take Ranma now without winning first!"
    Mikado replied "You're right, Ukyou Kuonji.  I must be a gentleman myself.
I shall restrict myself to kissing bystanders."
    "Thanks, Ucchan!  But I'm not a prize!  Now get off of me, you Kunou
wannabe."
    "I shall give you a small demonstration of just how low your chances are!
Attack me, everyone!" shouted Mikado to a crowd of hockey players.
    Even the hockey players, who had had lots of fighting experience due to
the customary practices in their chosen sport, were no match for Mikado and
Azusa.  The Golden Pair fought off all 100 of them with their special
technique in just nine seconds.

    In the meantime, Ryouga had managed to run away from where Azusa had put
him.  Ranma managed to catch him.  "Stand still.  I have your clothes, you
know."
    Azusa grabbed at the pig, but this time Ranma held it out of reach.  Azusa
retaliated by holding something else out of reach--a key. "That cute collar
stays on Charlotte unless you win a match with me!"
    Ranma took Ryouga to the restroom along with his bundled clothes.  In no
time, he was back to human and dressed for skating (except for one cute
collar).  Ryouga bounded out onto the ice, ran after Azusa, and of course
immediately fell on his face.

    It was the time for the big match.  The first to appear on the ice was
Ryouga.  Telling him "You're the prize, not the contestant", Ranma threw water
on him.    Ryouga returned with "And you're _not_ the pri--" as the water
hit and he turned into Charlotte.
    Ukyou faced off against Mikado.
    Ranma faced off against Azusa.  
    Charlotte, tied to a trophy, didn't face against off against anyone.
    The announcer began introducing the contestants.  "We have the Golden Pair,
champions of Martial Arts Skating!  The undefeated Mikado Sanzenin and
Shiratori Azusa!  And, the challengers, Ukyou Kuonji and Ranma Saotome!"
Neither of them were really dressed for skating.  They were quickly taken away
by rabid costumers and stuffed into portable booths where each received their
own costume.  If anyone noticed Ukyou's chest straps in their haste, they
stayed silent.  Ranma shouted "I hate flowers!"
    Ukyou started by skating towards Mikado and chopping holes in the ice with
her spatula, sending a spray of ice shards at Mikado.  Mikado easily evaded
by changing direction, with Ukyou unable to change the direction of her attack
since she was keeping all her attention on staying upright.
    Ranma jumped at Mikado.  Once she was in the air, and not touching the ice,
she found it a lot easier to successfully attack.  A powerful kick hit Mikado,
who returned the favor by twirling on the ice while punching so fast that
Ranma couldn't see it.  "Don't fight me", asked Mikado.  "Let's be friends!"
He pulled Ranma to his chest and would have kissed her had not a spatula came
flying forwards to knock him on the noggin.
    Ukyou explained "I figured out how to fight here!  It's just like trying
to fight while sliding on a greased pan!  Now put down Ranma.  Ranma is my
fiancee, and if you touch her I'll kill you.  She skated by and took Ranma's
hand.
    Ranma muttered "Geez, you don't have to be so macho about it, Ucchan."
    Mikado replied "Never."  He motioned to Azusa, who grabbed Ranma, and
then Azusa jumped upwards, letting Mikado hold her feet.  The entire human
chain began to spin.
    The announcer helpfully explained the attack to the spectators.  "Mikado
and Azusa have begun the 'Wakare no Merry-go-round technique!  No pair has ever
survived this awesome technique!  It even breaks up couples by trust, as the
one way out of it is to release your partner early and let them get thrown
away instead!  How long will Ukyou Kuonji and Ranma Saotome last?"
    Miraculously, Ukyou and Ranma didn't lose trust.  Ukyou was Ranma's friend,
and Ranma was Ukyou's fiancee.  But that served them no good when Azusa,
working on a silent signal, let them both go while spinning at several hundred
revolutions per minute.  Ranma and Ukyou sailed on a course tangent to the
circle and directly into a wall.
    Fortunately, Ukyou, an experienced martial arts fighter, was able to adapt
some techniques to this moment,  When only a few feet from the wall, she
thrust her feet down into the ice, cracking it, and abruptly stopping their
motion.  They stumbled, but came to a stop, and the wall stayed, for once,
intact.
    "Are you okay?" asked Ukyou?
    "Never better.  Let's get them."

    Ryouga struggled and struggled against the chain.  His enormous strength,
greatly diminished in pig form, began to increase as he contemplated revenge
against Ranma and Azusa for this humiliating predicament.  Something snapped.
He looked back; yup, it was the chain.
    After a quick hot water and change, Ryouga landed on the rink in skates.
He fell down again.  Ryouga pulled himself to his feet and charged Azusa,
once again falling down after a brief pause.  Azusa looked at him.  "Charlotte,
Charlotte!"
    "Uhh, I'm not..."
    She pointed to Ryouga's cute collar.  "You're Charlotte!"
    "No!  Now give me that key...."

    Ranma and Ukyou kept fighting Mikado while Azusa was distracted.  Ukyou
flipped a chunk of ice at Mikado, as if it were an okonomiyaki.  Ranma
managed to get in the occasional punch or kick when her uncontrolled path
across the ice took her, by chance, near her target.
    Azusa was still whispering "Charlotte, Charlotte!" when Mikado was beset
on both sides by his attackers.  He signalled Azusa, who didn't even notice
it.  Ranma, Ukyou, and Mikado collided, dazed.
    Their position was not the best for Ranma.  Mikado reached out for her and
gave her a big kiss on the lips.
    Ranma began to cry and rage at the same time, turning around to flee the
scene.  Ukyou, fuming herself, turned around the fleeing Ranma and aimed her
at Mikado, and Ranma landed 518 blows on him before Mikado could react.  He
went unconscious, falling into the ice while Ranma continued to hit him.
    "The winners...  Ukyou Kuonji and Ranma Saotome!"

    Back at home, Ryouga was telling everyone the story, leaving out the
Charlotte parts but being sure to emphasize that Ranma was kissed by a
handsome guy.  Ranma, now male, hit Ryouga hard.
    Nabiki commented "You don't have to hit him so hard, Ranma!  If it was a
kiss with a guy, it doesn't count anyway!  But it would be _awful_ if that
was your _first kiss_...."  Ranma ran off to the guestroom.
    Shortly afterwards there was a knock on the window.  "Go away.", said
Ranma.
    "Ranchan, it's me, Ucchan.  I know you must be feeling really bad after all
that...  but we did win.  Say, if you want, you can kiss me for real and get
rid of that feeling."  She climbed into the room.
    "Uh...  er.... you are pretty cute, but...."  Ranma still wasn't sure he
really wanted Ukyou as his girlfriend, even though they were engaged.  But
something inside his head whispered to him that it couldn't hurt to kiss
her.  He leaned forwards, and paused, then leaned forwards again...  until
Genma and Soun crawled out of the woodwork and pulled Ukyou out to the living
room and Ranma to the dojo.
