Time after time in serious and other fanfics, I see Tendo Kasumi say,
"Oh My."
What are the words in Japanese? What do they literally mean?
What is their use and translation such that english translators
have settled on "Oh My"?
The original Japanese, at least in the OAVs, is "Ara!" which appears to be
a general exclamation. It can also translate to "Ah!" in English, but when
Viz was dubbing it, they probably used "Oh my" because it lip-synchs
better. (Two syllables, as opposed to just one.)
Hope this clears things up somewhat.
Doesn't she also use "Taihen!" a lot? I thought that was what was
generally translated as "Oh my!".
