Well, I just got back from partying and it's now 4:40 in the morning... and I
think I'm buzzing (but just a little), but what the hell, I'm awake so
instead of wrapping up Ranma Prom Night, I think I'll write a non-sensible
fanfic to bring in the New Year...
"ONE MINUTE!" screamed the crowd as they looked upwards at the gigantic clock
face, as the minute hand struck 59.
"Hither, the dawn of yet another year for us has arrived; the glisttening
stars shall reach our starry nights for a new age... let us bring the new
amourphous year that we shall shape with our love with a kiss..."
"No Kuno!" shouted back Amy as she shoved his face away from her's. "Kuno,
don't you need to find Akane and welcome the new year with her?"
"But my dear Akane Tendo and the pig-tailed girl are not within my grasp at
this moment, no doubt the cretinous Ranma Saotome has taken them for
himself... but you my blue haired beauty are here with me as the final ticks
of the clock begin the countdown towards a new era..."
Amy looked around nervously. She had come to this new years eve gala on the
streets of Tokyo with her fellow scouts and friends, and they also called up
Ranma and had decided to meet the whole "negaverse trashing crew" here to
welcome the new years. But they had apparently underestimated the crowd, as
the streets of Tokyo were now as full as the subways, and due to the pushing
and shoving of the masses, she had been accidently seperated from the rest of
the crowd. Due to her luck, or lack of, Kuno had gotten lost from the rest
of them as well (actually, it was concievable that they ditched him), and he
wound up finding her all alone. It wasn't as if she COULDN'T be with Kuno
now, especially after how she had to reevaluate her feelings after Furinkan
High's Junior Prom, but she wasn't ready to be ALONE with Kuno to kick off
the new year.
"45, 44, 43..." screamed the entire crowd.
"Come my love, let us shed our inhibitions just as we shall soon shed the
year of '96...." said Kuno as he pouted his lips for a kiss and motioned his
head towards Amy's face.
"I said NOT NOW Kuno!" shouted Amy as she moved her head away from him, but
her yelling was drastically dimmed by the raving crowd. She looked around at
the loud gathering and realized there was no way she was going to find her
friends in 30 seconds... so she was stuck with Kuno. The ever reasonable Amy
managed to calm down and analyze the situation.
"Kuno, let's just welcome the New Year together as friends okay? We'll give
a quick cheer and a quick hug, and then we'll find everyone else so you can
do the same with Akane and the pig-tailed girl, okay?"
"32, 31, 30..."
"But would not a physical expression of our earnest love be the impeccable
way to welcome in our great epoch? No, why shall we settle for a crumb when
the whole cookie can be ours!" raved Kuno as he grabbed Amy into his arms.
"Kuno! Be reasonable! Let go of me now, or god help me..."
"Why deny yourself the throbbing desire in your heart of hearts? Let us
enjoin our love tonight, tomorrow, and next year at the same time!"
"Kuno, I'm not kidding. Let go of me or I'll... I'll regret what happened at
the Junior Prom..."
"15,14,13..." screamed the crowd louder and louder as they got closer to the
new year.
"But how can you regret the blissed moment?" questioned a startled Kuno as he
lossened his grip on her. "Did you not experience the apogee emotion I did?"
Amy shook herself out of his arms. "It's not the moment I would regret...
but the fact that it happened with someone who doesn't repect my wishes and
forces himself on me!" shouted back Amy. "Now, just a quick hug, and we do
have a whole new year to see what lies ahead of us..."
Kuno looked perplexed for a moment... and then he slowly nodded his head,
whether he understood the situation or not... but his abiding of her wishes
was a new step for Kuno towards sanity.
"5, 4, 3, 2..." counted down the crowd. With a deafning "1!" the clock
tolled Midnight, as a new day and year dawned for Japan. Fireworks could be
heard everywhere as the clock continued ringing 12 bangs.
"Happy New Year!" shouted Amy as did the rest of the people.
"Salutations for the coming year!" shouted back Kuno as he hugged her, but
for more than what one would call quick. As he maintained his grip on her,
he looked down on the face of his blue haired beauty.
Amy sensing his eyes on her, looked up to his face. "Amazing," she thought.
"How could someone who looked so good be so wrong?" Before she knew it,
Kuno was lowering his face towards hers again, but... with a more casual
grace and gentleness she wasn't expecting. For once, Amy's brain went dead
as she gazed into his eyes. And out of the blue, she closed her eyes as if
anticipating something...
"There you guys are! Happy New Years you two! We were looking all over for
you!"
Amy quickly regained her composure and pulled herself out of Kuno's arms.
She spun around quickly and saw Serena there, with everybody else closely
behind her worming through the crowd. Apparently, Serena didn't get a good
look of what was happening due to the men in front of her. "And just what
was happening?" wondered Amy.
"Akane Tendo! My love! You have escaped the clutches of the vile Saotome!"
ranted Kuno as he threw people out of his way to grab Akane.
"It may be a new year, but nothing else is changing here!" shouted Ranma as
he put his boot to Kuno's face to stop him in his tracks.
Amy let out a deep sigh. Same old Kuno, what was she thinking of? She
wasn't thinking, that's what. She decided to never let her brain shut down
like that again. Kuno, simply put, was and is an idiot. And nothing but
trouble for her. But she had this deep harboring feeling inside, one she
almost feared, that this new year would indeed be a "new amourphous year"
that she would shape... with Kuno by her side.
The whole crowd of scouts and Ranma and co. finally all gathered together as
they pushed everybody else outside of their little circle Almost all at
once, everybody looked at each other and shouted out "Happy New Year!"
*Author's note: I think this story really picked up the more I wrote (and the
less I buzzed). Anyways, this thing wasn't very description heavy and
probably alot of mistakes, but hey, I'm writing this in like half an hour at
4:45 am, give me a break. I know this thing alludes to events in Prom Night
that nobody has read yet, but it'll happen..., and may not be what you think
from reading this. I've plotted the whole thing out already, just those nit
picky details left to do in PN. And I didn't put it out by the end of 96,
but when I started it, I said don't expect the end until early January.
Hopefully, I can make that deadline. Well, I think I'm going to take a
shower now... I don't think I'm getting any sleep tonight. But I don't think
my mind is working well enough for me to write PN now. One more thing, I
want to thank whoever voted for me at the "best of 96 fanfic" thing at
fanfic@fanfic.com for "best crossover." I really appreciate the sentiments!
Oh, and before I forget the purpose of this thing...
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYBODY!!!!!!
May the coming year prove to be a greater chapter in the story of your life!
