Okay, okay, enough of this. That's about seven people who've answered this
question, but we can't seem to decide on who's correct. Either it's Tofu
Ono,
or it's Ono Tofu. Will someone who can translate the original Ranma 1/2
manga
stand up and please enlighten us all as to which way round it is?
>From what I gather Tofu is the family name, while Ono is the given name.
Therefore in America it would be Ono Tofu, while in Japan it would
be Tofu Ono. Just like in Japan it is Saoutome Ranma, and Tendou Akane.

Uh, no. The last time I asked this question, I was told
that Tofu is his personal name and Ono is his family name.
The reason I believe this is because his mother's name is
Ono Kin or Kin Ono (whichever way you like it).

Also, I looked it up in the Ranma Perfect Guide put together
by Terry Martin (http://www.princeton.edu/~qpliu/ranma_ppt.html).
Another source is Chris Rijk's Ranma FAQ (http://194.154.62.33/RanmaFAQ/).
They basically agree that Tofu is the personal name. Since they
know a heck of a lot more about the series than I do, I'm not about
to quibble.

(who then asked why everyone called him Dr. Tofu instead of Dr. Ono...
yeah, I know, it's just one of those things)
