Outside the snow was falling.
Wet slushy snow that froze when it finaly landed if it was exposed to the
wind or otherwise settled in depressions and rust formed dirty-rust
stained pools.
Thunder rumbled, a kind of intense blurred sound. The subdued anger of
winter.
She huddled in her blanket and scurried over to the small heater which
shed it's little warmth into the room. The heater and the illegal power
hook-up had been "gifts" from a friend. A friend who expected certain
things in return.
She picked the heater up and gingerly and moved
it closer to the rat's-net of blankets, old clothing and pillows which she
called her bed.
She'd eaten earlier that day - a couple of burgers she'd gotten from the
dumptster of a fast-food joint but her belly felt tight, cramped. Maybe
the rumors that whatever the place was serving were true...the price of
beef was high after all...
She sighed and in the dim light of an almost-dead bulb looked up at the
woman on the poster.
 She'd changed.
Or maybe the problem was she hadn't.
She had never managed to get the dedication to continue. No
matter how much music had ment there were always the little things
getting in her way. Like her temper, and with it the loss of the
band wen they decided that she was nothing but trouble.
Somehow the combination of hunger and cold gave her a stretch of clarity
on the situation...something that she had somehow never really had before.
There must have been, she mused, a time when she could have changed.
There must have been a branch where she could have turned it all around.
She frowned. What could it have been?
Running away? No, no matter what that was something she would do again
and again given the choice. The gang? No. The only regret was what
happened later, - Her lover's body cooling in her arms on the rainy
highway.
That's where it had all fallen apart....that's whre her life had
officialy ended.
Wait...She squinted in memory. That woman. that tall cool woman who had
offered her hand. What if she had taken it. No, nothing would have
changed. If only...If only she could do it all again...just a little
cleared..just a little cooler. If only she had one more chance.
Red lightning flashed outside leaking it's blaze into the trailer with
it's brightness.
That is, if there had been anyone to see it.
 The trailer was empty.

O.K.
 The question thing now....
Can anyone see this? Am I still subscribed?
I tried the "subscribe" option with little visable effect...
SO, this little piece of SPAM :)

I met a Lady in the Meads,
                    Full beautiful, a faery's child,
Her hair was long, her foot was light
                    And her eyes were wild.
