How about the following: Ranma is wandering around the island, looking
for the Jusenkyo cure that Roarke says is there. He keeps bumping into
some other martial artist, one who looks kind of familiar. This other
martial artist easily out-fights and out-wits and generally makes a
fool of Ranma and his entourage at every opportunity. Akane gets a
crush on him. The reader thinks that this is yet another author
insertion fic. Then at the end, Roarke says to the other martial
artist:

"Did you enjoy your fantasy, Gosunkugi?"

Now that's brilliant!

Here's a way to improve on it:

Same as above, only a couple of things happen at the end.  Ranma is faced
with two pools, one with Nannichuan water to cure him, the other with
Nyannichuan water to cure him in a way he doesn't want to be cured.
To make things worse, he doesn't know which is which, and must choose.
Along comes Gos, who wished to be an excellent martial artist JUST LIKE
SAOTOME.  During the fight, Gos lands in one of the pools, and comes out
a little...different.  Ranma, seeing the change, jumps into the other pool,
and is cured, thereby getting his wish.

Ah, but you are forgetting the one cardinal rule of Ranma 1/2, namely
YOU CAN NEVER, UNDER _ANY_ CIRCUMSTANCES CURE RANMA! Then the series
would just be Ranma, no 1/2 er nuthin.

Unless this is going to be a really twisted fic, where Ranma gets cured,
then finds out Akane prefers his female side (err, not gonna go there. I
wouldn't survive the assault of the Akane fans on the list. not to
mention getting revenged again is still a possibility.)
