Destroying the sattellites wouldn't be too hard. I gather those particle
beams are for leveling cities not small nimble attackers.

If I remember right, hundreds of those particle beam sattelites orbit
the earth, probobly more than enought to take care of all 36
destroyers.  But the main priority would be to take out the mother ship,
especially since all power seems to come from it...
