I've got to say something about it. I was hooked on CTW with part 2 and

Damn! Where? What? I'm sure I made a few mistakes, but tell me so I can
fix them for the RAAC posting.
 

I really enjoyed reading part 10. I even found myself experiencing the
same feelings as Ranma when he learned of Professor McFogg.

 
McFogg's death at the end of the story was planned from the beginning.
Even so I found it hard to write it, mostly because I found myself
attached to the character and also because I knew it would be a sad
point in an ending that I wanted to be bright and positive. Hiro Ohata
was not supposed to survive CTW either, but I decided around Part 5 or
so that there could be no one else who should deliver the news of the
Professor's death and the provisions of his Will to Ranma and Akane.

Darn it, Jamie, you went and got me all mistied eyed at the end. *sniff*

I wanted to do a little more at the end, perhaps explain a bit more of
the aftermath (particularly with the Russians and the Maiar), but it
just seemed right the way it was. If and when I continue down this
storyline, I'll do that. I don't think we'll be seeing Aerandir and
company again, except as well disguised cameos. Hiro will be back, at
least for the Wedding.
 

Thank you, Jamie, for CTW and for "Happiness Comes From Without." I can
only hope to attain this level of a story.

 
"Happiness Comes From Without" as I said was my attempt to 'do right by
Ukyo'. I have had many discussions about Ucchan's lousy love life, and
always came to the same conclusion: she has to look outside the cast. RT
really left her in the lurch. (She leaves others in the same position,
but I think Ukyo is the only one most people care about.)
 
Don't thank me, thank high levels of CO2 and breathing amine for a few
weeks. Thank the rumble of SSTGs, the whine of main engine turbines, and
the hiss of several hundred-thousand pounds mass per hour of steam
flowing through pipes in the overhead. That was my inspiration for CTW.
Without the boradom and the white noisa of an engine room I would never
have plotted out a story as large and as complicated as this one was.
 
(I don't recommend that you attempt to duplicate these conditions.
Nuclear powered submarine engine rooms cost big bucks and the other
option costs you six years of your life!)
