I had an idea, but I couldn't find the time to do it. Also, I couldn't
think of any important scenes except the start and the end. Finally, it
would have been just a bit depressing (martial artists against a city
destroying beam, no contest)

Get Ranma confident and Ryouga depressed and we could see how those shields 
withstand Chi attacks...
