I'm confused here. I was only offering an opinion on why people haven't
read and responded to the story. They don't have to be intimately
familiar with Arthurian legends to be bored by the same story told in
"The Sword in the Stone", "Excalibur", "First Knight", "Monty Python and
the Holy Grail"... need I go on? I did not mean the stuff I wrote as
I disagree with that. It depends on your temperament and your
level of interest in the legend of King Arthur, I guess. I don't remember
being bored with the actual story; I just sometimes dislike the portrayal
of characters or the story-telling, etc. And I wish I could see "Monty
Python and the Holy Grail." There are reasons to enjoy a story or
movie beyond the plot. That's why stories are better than plot synopses
(or they should be :). I fall in love with characters, situations,
descriptions,
dialogues. The telling just has to be interesting; the story doesn't have
to be original.
criticism; I did not mean to imply that John made a mistake in writing
it. Chris was lamenting that no one was reading it. I was offering an
opinion as to why.
So you disagree with my opinion. What's your opinion as to why people
haven't read it?
I think several people have read it, especially with the raves and
discussions about it. *I* have.
There are several reasons why I might not read a 'fic...at least not
right
away. I tend not to read fanfics about anime that I am unfamiliar with or
don't
like. I tend not to read stories that don't interest me. I also tend to
save big
'fics for later reading. I have a huge pile on my to-read list for this reason.
I also might not have time to read the 'fic...most likely answer as classes are
ending soon and we all know what that means.
And even if I did read it, I might not comment on it unless I had
something interesting to contribute...so the problem might not be that
people aren't reading it...
