The problem is a single characterization (oh, no! not that again)
error which seems to be prevading Ranma fics as of late. Namely, Ranma
seems to be gaining a propensity for telling Akane about Ryouga's curse.
Why is this a problem? Well, Ranma gave his word that he wouldn't
tell Akane about Ryouga's curse. He even goes out of his way to *PREVENT*
Akane from learning of the curse, going so far as to put himself into the
path of the hot/cold water which is going to dump on Ryouga in the Kodachi
story. Admittadly, the word was originally given to the dog, but he
obviously is keeping to the spirit of the promise, as he didn't tell Akane
about the curse when he found out that P-chan was really Ryouga.
Basically, Ranma will *NOT* do such a thing, and please, fanfic
authors, if Ranma *MUST* tell Akane, give us a reason. That reason cannot
be to spite Ryouga, for he'd have told before if that were the case.
I agree with you that this shouldn't happen without a good reason, but
am not sure which fics you are referring to. I recall that this
happened in Eimii's untitled story, but it turned out to be a dream
sequence. Maybe these are fics that I haven't read yet?
