OK, the mapping here is:

Akane Tendo = Patty Hearst / Tonya, newspaper heiress who gets kidnapped
    and turned into a terrorist.

Ranma = Her "prepy" fiancee.

Rats, the rest of it escapes me.  Even I'm not quite that old.  (If you
do this, you MUST throw in tons of Citizen Kane references...)
