While I am Not a martial arts expert either and came into the discussion
late, it was my impression that the "Anything Goes Style" was part of a
running joke. Japanese styles are very controlled and reserved [i.e., they
hold back and look for the move that will defeat their opponent]. Chinese
styles are more wild and freeform [i.e., throw everything at them and maybe
something will hit, and is somewhat looked down upon by the Japanese]. For
a guy who is named "Wild Horse" and who wears Chinese clothing, a wild
off-the-wall style would be very appropriate and humorous.
