: Godai Yushaku
: Notorious loser. At the beginning of the series, he was a ronin,
: a high school graduate who had failed his college entrance exams. He
: has a bad habit of scratching his head and laughing pathetically
: whenever he gets nervous, which is whenever he's in an awkward situation
: around women. Basically, whenever he's around women, period.

And he has a *major* crush on his apartment manager (true love,
actually). That should not be missing in his characterization.
Ah, but I am thinking of Godai *Yusaku*. :)

: Yotsuya
: A mysterious lecher. Has been known to peep at just about
: anything female and with a pulse, although he has been known to be
: honorable on occasion. He won't peep at Otonashi Kyoko, for example.

Oh, but he *did* try to do just that. When Akemi and Kyoko bought
some leotards and changed tried them on in Akemi's room, Yotsuya
caused some pretty embarrassing scenes for Godai, by trying to
peep on them from his room.

: Roppongi Akemi
: An older woman in the habit of walking around in a negligee to
: annoy Godai. A drinker, prone to rocky relationships with tall dark
: and handsome strangers who aren't perverts. (like Yotsuya)

Opposites attract, I guess. :)

: Otonashi Kyoko
: Manager of Maison Ikkoku. "Maison" implies a mansion or elegant
: house. In reality, Ikkoku-kan (-apartments) is a run-down building always
: on the verge of falling apart, especially one particular hole between
: Yotsuya's and Godai's room, and sometimes another hole between Godai's
: room and Akemi's room. Kyoko is a young widow. Her former husband was
: named Souichiro. He left her a mangy white dog which she renamed
: Souichiro.

The dog was named thus, even when her husband was still alive.

As for the fic, it's interesting, even though it's mostly setup
for now. Get cracking on the next part.
