I was wondering if anybody else out there has read/is reading 
Textural Poachers by Henry Jenkins?
 It's an interesting (though highly verbose) book about fans, and the fan
community... with particulair emphisis on writing and creative
endevors....It's about Star Trek and Beauty and The Beast etc with little
ref to anime but the constructs he talks about are still valid.
