Ah, the prestigous Taleswapper Awards, yawn.
Well, I going to respond to this, as you can see.

I am not going to make some hypocritical schtick about writing fanfics is
award enough stuff. Face it, when we do something that is enjoyed by
audiences, theres got to be a some time of award there. I wish that all of
us can write for our own enjoyment, not for some stupid awards, and I know
that all of us do; but in the back of our heads, there is a small thing.
That thing is our ego; on occasion, we love to satisfy our always ever-
hungry ego. That's why these award stuff is here. Also, we like to
appreciate some really great piece of work when we see it. For example, the
Academy Awards, the Emmys, Grammys, MTV music awards, and all those other
types of awards doesn't give away awards to make us stay up till 1:00 AM to
watch them. It is there to honor the best of the best. I mean, I seldom
hear stuff like, "My fans going to see my movie is award enough, I don't
need some stupid gold statue." Why? I don't know. It's human nature I
guess. I am in favor of awards. I like to award people who deserve it, and
I like to see people awared because of their works. None of my stories will
ever be awared of anything but as long as my favorite fics do, I'm happy
for them.

One other argument against these awards stuff is that this can turn into a
competition. I would think that is extrememly hard to do. I'm sure when you
start writing a story, you say, "This story has to be better than that
Benares guy's fic. I have to be better than he is!" I don't know how many
of you actually say that or something similar, but I know nobody that says
a such thing. Like we always say, they write because they like to, not
because of competition.

Now, I give you my excuse for writing this. It is now 1:20 AM, I just
finished writing an English paper, I'm bored, and half awake. Since I am
half awake, you can flame me for some stupid mistakes I made while I was
trying to make some kind of point. Thank you for listen to me babble.
