Is it just me, or do other people feel really insulted by

Please don't; I mean no offense.

all these little "Awards" that are going around right now?
One or two people are picking the fics they like most and

Isn't writing about fics I enjoyed a _good_ thing?

basically saying that everything that everyone else has
written isn't even worth a mention. There are a LOT of

Well, no. Stating that I have favorites (and presenting ample evidence for
why they are my favorites) is not tantamount to insulting other fics. If I
choose to marry my "favorite" woman, I'm not judging all other women to be
worthless.

wonderful fanfics out there that you didn't even mention,

Well, they can't _all_ be my favorites, right? Or does complimenting a
single fic (or a handful of fics) obligate me to compliment them all?

and in a lot of genres that were not pursued... such as
Sailormoon fics, BGC fics, other stories.

Isn't it perfectly valid to choose a well-defined niche to write about?

I don't know about you guys, but I am NOT writing
my stories to win some award. I am happy just if people
like my story and send me a note every once and a while in

See my post in January for my thoughts on "Lessons in Love." Unless I change
my mind, of course . . .

encouragement. I think that we shouldn't be setting people
on pedestals.

How else can I see up their skirts? Seriously, I think well-articulated
appreciation for fanfic authors (one, some, most, or all) is something that
ought not to be discouraged.

The fact that we have degenerated into needing to

If my whimsical awards fill any author's "need," it's strictly coincidental.
The only need I intended to address was my own desire to express my
appreciation for artwork that has brought me joy. Again, that's a good
thing, right? Or is it degenerate?

give some kind of an award seems superfluous and just
bizzare. How do other people feel about this? Am I alone ?

Probably not alone. Superfluous? Maybe, but I think the detailed analyses I
worked hard to develop are at least as relevant as debates over whether
particular fics are "in-character" or "OOC." Bizarre? Intentionally so, but
I think it's pretty lightweight as unconventional behavior goes.

maybe it's just PMS

Not permitted to comment on such matters . . .
