Nope, he's right.  I had a similar problem until I changed to
Procmail to sort my mail.  

As soon as WW dropped the reply-to: header, lots and lots of FFML
mesages would turn up between my personal mail, since my old
filter program could not recognize Cc-ed messages correctly. 
Before the change it would happen only from time to time, when
people explicitly *wanted* to send their reply to the original
author by mail, too.  But after the change, the amount of such
posts shot up dramatically, which leads me to believe that a lot
of people out there are either too lazy to edit their To: header
or have broken e-mail software that doesn't allow them to do so.

Getting double replies - one private, one Cc to the ML - doesn't
bother me, although I find it irritating sometimes when I reply to
a private post as if it was meant just for me and then realize
that it was *really* meant for the list.
