Someone told me that Joketsuzoku is *not* the name of the village where
Shampoo et. al. are from.  Rather, Joketsuzoku is "Chinese Amazons" in
Japanese.  The village is named something else altogether.

In the anime, the Jusenkyo Guide holds up a sign with the name of the 
village.  The kanji on the sign in Japanese read "Joketsuzoku".  In 
Chinese they read "Nyuchiehzu".  Either way, it translates in English 
to (roughly) "Amazon Tribe".  AFAIK, this is the only time the 
village is refered to by any name, so it could be that the Guide 
simply didn't know the real name of the village.
