Anyhows, Mr Wang's portrayal of Akane is so OCC, it's ridiculous. Sure,
Akane can be nice, and sweet sometimes, and does require Ranma's
protection from time to time, but your argument doesn't stand. I haven't
seen the OAV with Ranma and Akane in the haunted tunnel (because Kiseki
films Australia suck), however. Was that in the manga? Because if it
isn't, then that wasn't really who Akane is. Takahashi's Akane is the
only Akane. All others are cheap fakes in my book.
Yes it is. She is still afraid of them in the manga. And for those
who actually cares, the only anime reference that I'll probably ever use
is Tendo Christmas Scramble, which fits with RT's Akane. Speaking of
Tendo Christmas Scramble, that was the kind of Akane I want to portray.
Shy, gentle, a little bit afraid and feels more comfortable around
Ranma. What's wrong with that? I see obviously the story didn't work
out what I planned, but I won't change the general idea. I realize that
I did portray her as really weak, and I'll change that.
And frankly, if you want to scream about OOC, there are plenty of Ranma
fanfic where characters are OOC. It wasn't intended to be OOC, at any
rate, if you see my reasoning. Why does people make the natural
assumption that Akane will be bold and fearless? Is it because she is
tomboyish and energetic? These aren't really related to each other. I
love Akane because she is such an emotionally well-developed and strong
character, but that doesn't mean she cannot have physical fears and that
she cannot show them.
Besides, how many ghosts do you see flying around the Tendo Household
when the lights go out? Don't be stupid, boy! If she was scared then, it
wouldn't be because it's dark, it would've been all the other crap
flying around!
So you're saying the author cannot take any liberties to change the
enviroment around the Tendo's house even if it would make the story make
sense. I wonder what you think of the others who take much more
liberties than I do. All I'm assuming is that someone afraid of ghosts
and snakes and such will most likely be afraid with a lightning storm,
presumably lots of rain and wind, and the house is pitch black with only
very light illumination from the moon.
BTW: Miyu, watch out for my Patened 12 Gauge Double-Barreled Remington
Combat Shotgun(TM), it's got quite some kick to it. Make sure you at
least cripple him with the first blast, otherwise he might get away
while you're reloading.....
I've one of those pentagram of protection thingy from Quake. I don't
play the game, because actions games are simply too simple, but that
doesn't mean that I don't know about them. Personally, I would use one
of the Shaker missiles from Descent 2, and maybe an Omega Cannon and
another Phoenix Cannon. Actually, I'll use a nail gun. The description
of it says it is designed to keep heavy-firepower enemy from getting a
shot, and I think that'll work pretty well against the double barrel
shotgun, even though it is only the 2nd weapon you get in the game. And
I can talk about this forever, too...
