"Senshi" translates as "soldier" right? If it doesn't, what does it
translate as, and what is "soldier" in Japanese?

Your bang on with that transalation. Senshi does translate into Soldier,
with the biggest example being Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon -Pretty
Soldier Sailor Moon.

Anou... My Japanese Dictionary gives the following definition for senshi:

senshi: death in military action; death on the battlefield

and translates soldier thusly:

soldier: heitai

[It's the Living Language Japanese Dictionary, 3rd edition]

Could someone clear this up?
Thanks!

Christopher Willmore

Actaully, senshi can mean "death in action" or "warrior" depending on the
kanji used.
