Somehow, I don't think it's possible for a person to change preferences
just like that ... I would *never* go for a girl, even if I had the
body of a guy ... It's not a thing you learn, nor a thing that someone
can teach you ... It's just something that is ... Although some people
change preferances, I don't think that it would happen like that.

First off it hasn't been just like that, according to the story he spent a year
and a half searching for that kettle, combine that with a quarter of scholl and
you have almost 2 years he's been stuck in that body.

Personally, I'd be turned off by a girl, however good a friend she was,
or however close she was to me ... It just seems really wrong for Ranma,
too ... He HATES being thought of as a homosexual - and now he's just
thrown himself into BEING one ... 

Outside looks don't change the inside person. Someone of the same sex
liking you/lusting after you won't make you change, either, however
nice they are towards you ... It's just not something that happens,
in anything that I've encountered or heard of.

I tend to agree with this.  However good enough friends canconvince you to try
something different every once-in-a-while.

So, basically, I think that the whole story is OOC... for the reactions
of Akane and Genma, too ... It's just not something that they'd do,
just as turning gay, just because he's locked into a girl body, isn't
something that Ranma'd do ...

I feel Akane reaction is probably accurate, as you said people can't change
their prefrences just like that. In this case Akane didn't. Genma reaction is a
little tougher to judge he might go this way he might not.

And you forgot the last option that Ranma could have - have a sex change
operation.

That would be the most likely action that Ranma would take, since you're
brining the Ranma world so much into reality.

This is the one thing he would never do. Escentially his art forbids it. No
"true" martial artist would ever delibertly disfigue themselves. And in Ranmas
case it wouldn't do any good, he wouldn't become what he was. In either
strength or ability.
