So, basically, I think that the whole story is OOC... for the reactions
of Akane and Genma, too ... It's just not something that they'd do,
just as turning gay, just because he's locked into a girl body, isn't
something that Ranma'd do ...

I dunno...Genma's a twit.  I'd like to think better of Akane though.

I can see Genma acting like that if Ranma decided to give up and stay
female - but as long as he's looking for the cure, Genma doesn't mind.
Genma didn't treat Ranma like this when Cologne made him turn female,
and stay that way ... nor when Herb splashed Ranma with the ladle...
That's because Ranma was looking for a cure - Ranma didn't want to stay
female. Genma may be many things, but he's not THAT bad. Besides, he'd
be too scared in case Nodoka found out that he'd disowned his child
rather than face seppuku like a man. (She'd probably kill him if he
said that Ranma died on the training trip, too... just for killing her
son.)

And on the point of Akane. To Akane, Ranma is "normal" as a male and
female. She has never met him as a male, only ... just as a boy who
turns into a girl. If she couldn't put up with Ranma being female
half the time, she would have broken it off MUCH earlier. She could
have broken it off when Cologne turned Ranma into a girl ... Or when
Herb first did the ladle ... But she didn't.

It seems to say that Akane would dump Ranma if he turned into a girl,
full time, because...? It doesn't really say why, just that it's "the
best"... I assume it's because Ranma's not the Ranma she knows. This,
then, means that Akane would dump Ranma if he turned into a full-time
male, because he's not the Ranma she knows.

But Akane loves Ranma, as he is - not because he's a manly man... not
because he's a girl, either ...

If Akane couldn't get past Ranma's body, she wouldn't have fallen in
love with him, and would have been disgusted each time she saw him
in his female form ... But that's not the case. She loves Ranma as he
is, and isn't insistent on making him turn into a full-time male...

Why would she suddenly grow cold just because Ranma's half changed?
Why would she fall out of love with him because of a tragedy? She'd
most likely help him to find a cure, and I don't see Ranma stopping
looking for a cure, however long it takes.

It seems that Akane's love is very shallow in this story, and that's
not the case ... She loves Ranma. She doesn't love Ranma only when
he's male... She loves Ranma, which ever for he's in. She may refuse
to *marry* him till he's found a cure ... But it seems *very* OOC,
to me, for her to break off an engagment with the one she loves, just
because he hasn't found a cure yet.

Akane doesn't love Ranma for his body, which is what this 'fic seems
to be saying.
