Either Ranma's relationship with Ukyou was very special or she's just
somebody he met, who took the relationship to be much more than Ranma
intended.  Personally I think the relationship was special, (s)he is
still his/her "best friend" and the nicknames they used with each other
are not for others.

It IS possible to have more than one close friend as a child, especially 
if you move around a lot.

 

Also you missed an injoke.  Have Makoto strangely attracted to Shiko,
because she reminds her of Rei...

Makoto isn't attracted to Rei :P
