I gotta agree with Richard. I like subtle too. Also, I know most of the
allusions because I read a lot. Someone with a non-literary background
might not get it tho :/ or at least someone who isn't very well read.
However, I thought that you did a good job....

No need... I got it. The line about, "There wasn't much they could say
in the end" was enough for me.
This story works because it is so subtle... trying to make things more
obvious would spoil it.
