some reason or another. Any questions, let me know. The sequel to this
piece is Fourteen Black Paintings, which is right behind this one. Enjoy!

1. EXTERIOR - CURSED POOLS OF JUSENKYO - NIGHT

RANMA finds himself standing in the
middle of Jusenkyo. The pools and field
are layered with a thick mist, making it
nearly impossible to see. The Moon
shines down through the mist, reflecting
some of its light off of the calm
waters. RANMA, however, is not calm.
He looks around wildly. RANMA focuses
on a darkened form coming closer to him
through the mist. It is swathed in
darkened blue robes and carrying a
staff. The form stops several feet away
from RANMA. It looks up to reveal the
face of a CHINESE GIRL (wearing glasses,
mid 20s). The CHINESE GIRL demands
something of RANMA in Mandarin.

                RANMA
     (confused, shaking his head)
What did you say? I--I can't understand
you.

The CHINESE GIRL repeats what she said.
Again, RANMA shakes his head.

                RANMA
I still can't understand you. Who are
you? What do you want?

The CHINESE GIRL bows her head and moves
closer to RANMA. The mist rolls away in
front of her. She walks silently.
Sixteen objects rise from the pools
surrounding RANMA and the CHINESE GIRL.
Each object is covered with a black
cloth of some kind and they are floating
above the pools. She looks at one of
the objects, and it floats in-between
RANMA and the CHINESE GIRL. The black
veil that was covering the object is
shorn away. The object is a mirror,
rippling as if it were made of water.
RANMA, unable to look away, peers deeper
into the mirror. He sees another
CHINESE GIRL (Long hair, mid-teens)
staring back at him. RANMA notices that
the CHINESE GIRL in the mirror has his
eyes. RANMA involuntarily steps back
and screams.

2. INTERIOR - RANMA'S BEDROOM - MORNING

AKANE steps into the room, angry. She
walks over to RANMA, still lying on his
futon, and kneels over him.

                AKANE
Wake up, Ranma, you're late for
breakfast.

RANMA rolls over, groaning, but he
doesn't wake. AKANE scowls at the
sight. She nudges him a few times, but
they seem to have no effect on RANMA's
sleeping form.

                AKANE
              (grumbling)
Ranma no baka...
            (Yells in RANMA's ear)
GET UP YOU IDIOT!!! IT'S TIME FOR
BREAKFAST!!!

RANMA jerks awake, reflexively rolling
away from AKANE. He is definitely
shaken, though not by AKANE's wake up
call. He looks around quickly, but
notices nothing wrong. AKANE starts at
RANMA's behavior.

                AKANE
You okay?

                RANMA
(still waking up, changing the topic)
'Course I'm okay...you didn't have to
yell into my ear.
      (grumbling to himself)
Uncute, sexless tomboy...why does she
have to bother me all the time?
[B
AKANE punches RANMA for the comment,
scowling at him even more. RANMA looks
up with a worried look in his eyes

                RANMA
You said breakfast...right? Did Kasumi
make it?

                AKANE
            (still upset)
Of course she made it, you twit!

                RANMA
        (whispering to himself)
Good...at least you--

RANMA doesn't get to finish his sentence
with AKANE's mallot imprinted into the
side of his face. AKANE gets up and
storms out of the room. Turned away
from RANMA, a slight smile spreads
across her face. RANMA shakes his head
...partially to shake of the effects of
AKANE's mallot, partly to shake off the
previous night's nightmare. He stands
up and begins to get dressed for school.
He, too, is smiling.

3. EXTERIOR - CITY SIDEWALK - AFTERNOON

AKANE is walking on the sidewalk. RANMA
is walking on the fence. AKANE looks up
at RANMA several times. RANMA doesn't
look back, he's lost in a train of
thought.

                AKANE
            (looking at RANMA)
So, how did it start?

                RANMA
               (bored)
Start? The usual, Kuno challenged me
again...over you. Same thing always
happens...he challenges me to a fight,
and I beat him up.

RANMA sounds bored, but he is clearly
alarmed by something. AKANE, looking
ahead, doesn't notice.

                AKANE
Did you have to do that to him? I mean
you lost control. You nearly killed
him this time.

RANMA shakes his head. He doesn't want
to hear any of the conversation.

                RANMA
             (indignant)
Come on. He challenged me...he deserved
what he got!
       (looking down at AKANE)
It's the same as it's always been.

                AKANE
Not this time, Ranma. You used some
moves even I hadn't heard of before
...where'd you learn those?

                RANMA
Gimme a break, Akane. I did nothing
new. Even you should have recognized
the attacks I made.

AKANE glares at RANMA, then turns back
to the sidewalk.

                AKANE
You sure you didn't lose control? Even
after you were thrown into the pool?
After you came out, you were like a
whole different person...

                RANMA
I was not...he tried to grab me! You
know exactly how I feel about guys
grabbing me, Akane.

Catching a shadow out of the corner of
his eye, RANMA turns towards it...only
to see something black dive out of the
way.

                RANMA
Hey...Akane.

                AKANE
What?

                RANMA
              (pointing)
Did you see that?

                AKANE
See what?

                RANMA
Something just jumped off of the roof
over there...like it didn't want to be
seen.

                AKANE
I didn't see it...are you sure you did?
      (RANMA nods. AKANE smiles)
It's probably just a cat or something.

                RANMA
Yeah...yeah, a cat or something.

He turns back and continues to walk down
the fence, side-by-side with AKANE.
RANMA looks back once more before the
two turn a corner.

4. INTERIOR - RANMA'S BEDROOM - DAY

The room is entirely white. The only
color in the room is provided by the
fifteen paintings on the wall. Each
painting is covered by a black cloth of
some kind. A mirror stands at the end
of the room. The door opens at the
other end of the room. SOUN and GENMA
enter.

                SOUN
              (proudly)
This is a happy day, Genma. Today our
children finally get married.

SOUN is ecstatic. He can hardly contain
his enthusiasm. GENMA smiles and looks
on at RANMA, who is standing in front of
the mirror.

                GENMA
              (to RANMA)
Better hurry up, Ranma. It's best not to
keep the guests waiting.

                RANMA
I'll be down in a minute, Pop. Lemme
get finished here.

GENMA nods and SOUN sighs in joy. The
two leave, clearly excited. RANMA turns
back to the mirror and begins to make
the final adjustments to the traditional
bride's robes she is wearing. RANMA
slows...she looks at the mirror
confused, but continues to fix her
robes.

5. INTERIOR - DOJO LIVING ROOM - DAY

Like RANMA's room, everything is painted
white. RANMA-CHAN and AKANE, both in
bride's clothes begin to go through the
final steps of marriage. The door
opens, and the CHINESE GIRL (glasses,
mid 20s) steps into the room. She is
furious. The CHINESE GIRL turns to
RANMA-CHAN and moves towards her at an
almost inhuman speed. RANMA-CHAN stands
up to confront her.

                CHINESE GIRL
                 (Close Up)
            (to RANMA-CHAN, demanding)
Where is my sister?

The CHINESE GIRL slaps RANMA-CHAN across
the face. CUT TO Close Up on RANMA-CHAN.
She is bleeding from the nose.

                RANMA-CHAN
                (agitated)
Who are you?? Why are you doing this to
me??

The CHINESE GIRL slaps her twice more
across the face.

                CHINESE GIRL
                 (Close Up)
Answer me...

                RANMA-CHAN
                (Close Up)
I don't even know who you're talking
about!

The CHINESE GIRL slaps RANMA-CHAN twice
more across the face.

                CHINESE GIRL
Liar!!!

RANMA-CHAN backs away from the CHINESE
GIRL, holding her arms up in defense.
No one else seems to notice what is
happening. Close Up on the CHINESE GIRL
as she keeps on slapping RANMA-CHAN.

6. INTERIOR - RANMA'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

RANMA wakes up with a start. He looks
around the room, but finds nothing has
changed. It is not painted completely
white. There are no paintings and no
mirror. RANMA's breathing begins to
slow a little as GENMA, in human form,
starts to stir. GENMA puts on his
glasses as he looks over to his son.

                RANMA
Don't worry about it, Pop, just another
bad dream.

GENMA gets up from his futon and gets
dressed. He turns to RANMA and motions
for him to follow. RANMA looks at his
father for a moment, then stands as
well. The two quietly pad downstairs,
going through the living room and into
the kitchen.

                RANMA
What's going on, Pops?

                GENMA
      (turns to RANMA, smiling)
Whenever Tendo and I had problems we
always did one thing to help us think.

CUT TO:

7. EXTERIOR - BACKYARD - NIGHT

                GENMA
    (sliding into fighting stance)
We fight!

RANMA smiles as he gets into his
fighting stance. The two take their
places by the pool in the Dojo's
backyard. There is plenty of light from
the moon to see by. Both RANMA and
GENMA look determined. RANMA smiles.

                RANMA
Anytime you're ready, old man.

GENMA leaps at RANMA, who blocks his
father's attack easily. The two throw
various attacks at the other, but
neither gain any significant advantage.
Both start tiring, readying themselves
for a final attack against the other.
RANMA leaps at GENMA, while GENMA
crouches down with a block. GENMA
quickly counters his son's attack with
a throw that lands RANMA right in the
middle of the pool in the backyard.

8. INTERIOR - POOL - NIGHT

RANMA is floating in the middle of a
blue-white globe of water and energy.
He is curled up in the fetal position.
In contrast to his surroundings, RANMA
seems calm. A FEMALE FORM, bathed in the
blue-white energy, moves closer to RANMA.
RANMA looks at it with curiosity. The
FORM reaches out to touch RANMA. RANMA
looks at the FORM a little closer and
sees that it has eyes like his. Still
bewildered at the sight, RANMA reaches
out to touch the FORM's outstretched
hand. As the two reach out to each
other, a blinding flash of light surges
through the blue-white energy field.

9. INTERIOR - DOJO LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

RANMA splutters as water gets splashed
into his face. He sits up, looking into
the worried faces of GENMA, SOUN,
NABIKI, KASUMI, and AKANE. RANMA looks
back and forth to each person, confused.
No one else seems to make a move to help
him. RANMA leans back and scratches his
head.

                RANMA
What are you all looking at me like that
for?

                GENMA
              (to RANMA)
Are you okay, son?

                RANMA
Yeah, of course I'm okay!

                NABIKI
Then could you explain to us why you
were speaking in Chinese?

                RANMA
             (to NABIKI)
What?!?

RANMA looks incredulous as the others
nod.

                NABIKI
Ranma, what is the last thing you
remember?

                RANMA
Getting thrown into the water.

                NABIKI
              (frowning)
Hmmm. What about when you were thrown
into the pool during that fight with
Kuno? Do you remember what happened
then?

                RANMA
Of course I do...

                NABIKI
Then what happened?

RANMA starts to speak, then stops. A
new wave of confusion spreads across his
face. RANMA stands up and walks into
the dining room while the others simply
watch.

                KASUMI
I think we should call Dr. Tofu in the
morning. Maybe he'll be able to help.

RANMA nods absently as he steps into the
dining room.

10. INTERIOR - DOJO DINING ROOM - NIGHT

RANMA is pacing around the dining room
table like a trapped animal. He does
not stop staring out into the moonlit
backyard. Every so often, he stops to
look at the pool. Then RANMA starts
pacing again.

                RANMA
            (Voice Over)
Same girl in both of those dreams...
Blacking out when I get splashed with
cold water...what's going on? They're
connected somehow, but where?

RANMA stops pacing as AKANE steps into
the dining room. She looks a little
worried.

                AKANE
What's going on, Ranma?
        (AKANE takes a step forward)
Do you know?

                RANMA
        (Begins to pace again)
             (troubled)
No...leave me alone, would ya? I'm
trying to figure this out.

                AKANE
               (angry)
Ranma! I just came in here to try and
help! If you don't want it, then fine!

RANMA stops pacing and turns on AKANE.

                RANMA
              (enraged)
I've had a really bad day, Akane, and
the last thing I need is to be badgered
by some stupid little bitch--!

RANMA stops his tirade short, and AKANE
begins to cry. She bolts out of the
room before RANMA can stop her. RANMA
stands in the middle of the dining
room, staring after AKANE. He walks
into the living room.

11. INTERIOR - DOJO HALLWAY - NIGHT

RANMA steps towards AKANE's door. He
raises his hand up to knock on the door.

                NABIKI
       (arms folded, to RANMA)
I don't think you should do that, Ranma.
You've done quite enough for one night.

RANMA stops cold and he turns to NABIKI.

                RANMA
I came up here to apologize...

                NABIKI
Doesn't matter, Ranma. You two fight a
lot, but this time you went just a
little too far. She's in no mood to
talk to you right now.

RANMA looks back at the door, then back
to NABIKI. He shrugs his shoulders.

                RANMA
            (to the door)
Akane, for what it's worth...I'm sorry.

12. INTERIOR - AKANE'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

AKANE is leaning up against the door to
her room, listening to the conversation
outside. She bursts into a new set of
tears as she listens to RANMA walk away.
AKANE walks over to her desk and picks
up the framed picture RANMA had given
her for Christmas.

                AKANE
        (Close Up, whispering)
Ranma...

AKANE stares at the picture for a while,
crying softly. A shadow passes over the
moon shining through her window. AKANE
looks up, but sees nothing out of her
bedroom window. The sound of shattering
glass comes from the upstairs bedroom.
AKANE drops the picture and heads for
the room.

13. INTERIOR - RANMA'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

AKANE is not the first to arrive. SOUN
and GENMA are already there. KASUMI and
NABIKI enter closely behind AKANE. The
room is empty. All the group can see is
the shattered glass from the window and
the moon shining in from the broken
window. RANMA is nowhere to be seen.
AKANE rushes for the window.

                AKANE
      (screaming into the night)
RANMA!!!

14. INTERIOR - DOJO DINING ROOM - DAY

SHAMPOO skids her bicycle to a halt
outside the door from the Dojo's
backyard. She is carrying a small box
and has a wide smile on her face.
SHAMPOO looks around the room, humming
tunelessly.

                SHAMPOO
I here, Ranma! Shampoo made breakfast
for you!
               (Close Up)
              (to herself)
Not like witch-girl and her terrible
cooking...
          (louder than before)
Ranma! Where you hiding!?!

SHAMPOO walks through the door leading
to the living room.

CUT TO:

15. INTERIOR - DOJO LIVING ROOM - DAY

SHAMPOO looks around to see SOUN and
GENMA talking to each other while AKANE
looks on in disgust. None of them look
like they have slept. SOUN is in tears.

                GENMA
              (to SOUN)
How am I going to explain this to
Nadoka?

                SOUN
             (to GENMA)
At least you still have a wife...what
will happen to the Dojo?

                AKANE
Will you two grow up!?! You're not going
to find Ranma sitting around here!

SHAMPOO's eyes widen in alarm.

                SHAMPOO
Ranma not here? Where Ranma go?

No one answers her question. KASUMI
steps in through the dining room. She
is carrying a tray with a pitcher of hot
tea and cups. KASUMI doesn't look like
she has slept much, either. KASUMI
notices SHAMPOO and her forgotten
breakfast.

                KASUMI
Hello, Shampoo. Thank you for bringing
that. We'll be needing it.

SHAMPOO absently hands KASUMI the box.

                SHAMPOO
Where Ranma go?

KASUMI looks back at SHAMPOO for a
second.

                KASUMI
Ranma...disappeared last night, and no
one has seen him since. We've searched
for him everywhere.

                SHAMPOO
              (to KASUMI)
Shampoo go get great-grandmother.
She'll help find husband.

Before AKANE can call after SHAMPOO with
an angry retort, the Chinese girl is on
her bicycle, speeding back to the
Nekohanten.

16. INTERIOR - DOJO DINING ROOM - DAY

The sun is shining brightly through the
door as COLOGNE looks patiently at the
members of the Tendo household.

                COLOGNE
My granddaughter has told me that my
future son-in-law has disappeared.
              (she pauses)
Perhaps one of you should explain the
events leading up to Ranma's
disappearance...

                AKANE
            (to COLOGNE)
Well, Ranma began to act strangely
yesterday...

                COLOGNE
Strangely...how?

                AKANE
Ranma...began speaking Chinese...in his
cursed form.

COLOGNE's eyes widen at this revelation.

                COLOGNE
Anything else?

                AKANE
             (irritated)
Isn't that enough!?

COLOGNE pauses for a long time. She
sighs.

                COLOGNE
          (almost to herself)
        (COLOGNE begins pacing)
Well, well, now. I didn't believe we'd
have to deal with this in a long time...
     (COLOGNE looks at the family)
There were legends back in my home
village...about a group of people who
fell into the Cursed Pools. They were
just fine for a time...just like Ranma.
But...as time passed, the Cursed Forms
began to take over. The people began
to lose their humanity...

COLOGNE pauses for a second and walks in
the other direction.

                COLOGNE
What had followed was utter chaos for
the village. The ones cursed with
animal forms, not knowing they were
human, were nearly impossible to round
up. They weren't the worst off, however
...It was the ones cursed with other
human forms. The ones who could
remember the cursed form's past lives,
but not their own. Theirs was a story
of tragedy...They were the ones who were
trapped between two worlds. That of the
living and that of the dead. That was
the true horror of the curse of the
springs...
       (COLOGNE chuckles grimly)
Cults formed around these lost souls...
and in isolated parts of China, they
still survive today. We had hoped that
this was just an isolated incident, or
an old wives' to scare little children.
We may have been wrong...
      (COLOGNE turns to GENMA)
The old legends say that my village had
to capture or kill all of the Lost Souls
that rose from Josenkyo. Except one.
Your son's...

17. EXTERIOR - SEA - NIGHT

The CHINESE GIRL from RANMA's dreams is
pulling a spluttering RANMA-CHAN out of
the sea. They are on a make-shift raft
made of broken wood and discarded
luggage. RANMA-CHAN looks around
wildly, coughing up some water.

                CHINESE GIRL
I can't let you die...not like this.

                RANMA-CHAN
           (speaking in Chinese)
What's going on? Where are we?

The CHINESE GIRL finally pulls the
drenched RANMA-CHAN on board the raft.
RANMA-CHAN gets a good look at her
rescuer.

                RANMA-CHAN
       (Still speaking in Chinese)
Sister...is that you?

The CHINESE GIRL nods, pulls RANMA-CHAN
close and hugs her. They sit together
for a few minutes, slightly rocking.

                CHINESE GIRL
Do you...do you remember my name?

RANMA-CHAN pauses for a long time
before answering.

                RANMA-CHAN
            (barely whispering)
No...

                CHINESE GIRL
Well, then...do you remember yours?

RANMA-CHAN pulls out of her sister's
embrace and looks into the sea. The
moon's light reflects off of the waters,
giving RANMA-CHAN a good mirror. She
begins to pull her hair out of the
pig-tail.

                RANMA-CHAN
I think...I think it's...Ranko...

RANKO's finishes pulling her hair out of
the pig-tail and turns back to her
sister. A single tear rolls down the
CHINESE GIRL's face.

                CHINESE GIRL
Well then, I'll go by my name here as
well...I'm Susan.

SUSAN beckons for RANKO to move closer,
and the two hug again.

                SUSAN
I have something I've been wanting to
give you for a long time. Something
grandmother wanted you to have.

SUSAN gives RANKO a small gold and
green pin with their family's symbol on
it. RANKO looks at it while her sister
holds her. RANKO looks up at the moon,
enraptured by it.

                RANKO
It's been a while since I've seen it...

SUSAN's gaze follows RANKO's.

                RANKO
             (continuing)
It hasn't changed at all, has it?

SUSAN shakes her head no as she looks
back at her sister.

                SUSAN
Get some sleep now, RANKO, you've been
away for a long time...

RANKO yawns as SUSAN pulls her sister
closer, rocking RANKO's still form to
sleep.

                SUSAN
               (crying)
Welcome home, little sister...

18. INTERIOR - AIRPORT TERMINAL - DAY

Amid the bustling crowds of Narita
Airport, SOUN, GENMA, KASUMI, and AKANE
wait anxiously.

                SOUN
I wonder what's taking her so long.

                KASUMI
Don't worry about it, father, she'll be
back soon.

                AKANE
I might regret it, but I wish Shampoo
and that old ghoul had come. They would
have been good guides.

                GENMA
What's there to worry about? Cologne
told us everything her village knew
about the girl that had drowned in the
pool. She had a sister that was a
powerful magician. Her family was well
known before the incident. Cologne even
told us which village the girl came
from.

                AKANE
Yeah, and the girl was a legendary
martial artist as well.

                GENMA
Exactly.

                AKANE
Do you trust her?

                GENMA
Has Cologne ever told a lie?

                AKANE
Has that old crone ever told the truth?

Before GENMA can respond to AKANE,
NABIKI steps out of the bustling crowd.
She doesn't look too happy.

                NABIKI
       (holding out the tickets)
I could only get two on the next
available flight out. Looks like all
of us aren't going to be able to go.

NABIKI grimaces as she hands her father
the tickets.

                KASUMI
             (to NABIKI)
Why, I didn't know you cared so much
about Ranma...

                NABIKI
I don't...it's a matter of professional
pride. When I can't get something, I
look bad.
            (she turns to SOUN)
At least you don't have to worry too
much about the cost, daddy. I managed to
get those two on a special discount.
           (NABIKI's eyes gleam)

The group looks at each other, waiting
for someone to make the first move.

                GENMA
I'll go. It's my responsibility.

No one else steps forward.

                NABIKI
            (sardonically)
I think Akane should go, too...she is
Ranma's fiancee, after all.

AKANE looks furiously at her sister, but
makes no attempt to back out. AKANE
simply grabs the ticket from her
father's hand. SOUN turns to GENMA.

                SOUN
             (to GENMA)
Take care, Saotome. I hope that you
find your son.

                GENMA
Don't worry about it too much, Tendo.
I'm sure we'll catch up with him in this
village Cologne told us about.

The two shake hands, and SOUN turns to
AKANE. He kneels down and hugs her,
with tears in his eyes.

                SOUN
Go. Find Ranma and bring him back
safely.

                AKANE
Don't worry about it, we'll be just
fine.

AKANE turns around where KASUMI is
standing. KASUMI hugs her sister good-
bye.

                KASUMI
Take care of Mr. Saotome while you're
gone, okay, Akane?

AKANE nods. She and GENMA head towards
the flight gate while the rest wave
goodbye to them. The two disappear
into the bustling crowd.

19. EXTERIOR - CAMPSITE IN CHINA - NIGHT

RANKO and SUSAN sit together across a
campfire. The two are eating their
dinner. SUSAN watches the fire flicker as
RANKO looks at the world around her in
wonder. RANKO looks across the fire at
SUSAN, who looks up in response.

                RANKO
You've been awfully quiet since we
landed, sister. Where are you taking
us?

SUSAN pauses for a moment.

                SUSAN
We are searching for something that will
finally lift your curse, little sister.

RANKO brightens up as SUSAN returns her
gaze back to the fire.

                RANKO
Oh really? What's this cure called?

                SUSAN
It is called the Blood of Eden...It
supposedly has the power to destroy any
curse it touches...to grant its user
that single moment of bliss. I've been
searching for it for centuries, but
most of the legends say that it finds
those who seek it instead.

                RANKO
             (hesitantly)
How does it work...when it destroys this
curse?

                SUSAN
            (looking up)
The Blood of Eden is supposed to render
the cursed back to its original state...

                RANKO
Wait a minute...does that mean I'll go
back the way I was before?

                SUSAN
That's a possibility, yes...

RANKO stands up.

                RANKO
I can't let that happen, sister. I've
been trapped there for over 1500 years.
Can you imagine what its like to live
for 1500 years, trapped in a place
where there is no light or people?

                SUSAN
             (painfully)
Yes...

                RANKO
Then why do you want to send me back
there? Big Sister, I've just come back
from a very long, frightening nightmare,
and I don't want to go back ever again.

                SUSAN
You won't be going back there, little
sister. You're soul was trapped there
after you...you died 1500 years ago.

                RANKO
Died?!? I'm alive, Big Sister. I'm
standing here right in front of you!

SUSAN looks up at her sister.

                SUSAN
Yes, you are standing there in front of
me...but you're not alive. You've been
dead for 1500 years, and I've sent to
release you.

                RANKO
NO! That's not possible! I wanted to
have a full life, big sister. This is
my second chance. I can't let you take
this from me! I won't! I'm going home!

RANKO turns and runs into the forest
with incredible speed.

                SUSAN
     (yelling after her sister)
RANKO!!!

SUSAN looks on after her sister.

                SUSAN
             (whispering)
Home isn't what it used to be...

20. INTERIOR - BUS IN CHINA - DAY

AKANE and GENMA are in a bus, going
through the Chinese interior. The bus
itself is crowded with people of all
kinds...from Chinese peasants to
American tourists. Even with the wide
variety of people in the bus, AKANE and
GENMA still stand out in the crowd.

                AKANE
              (to GENMA)
Did you have to wait till we landed to
change back?

                GENMA
I had no choice, Akane. I had no other
spare clothes on the flight. Besides,
you'd think people would have seen
pandas before.

                AKANE
Pandas on airplanes? Carrying signs
saying 'don't mind me, I'm an ordinary
panda'?

                GENMA
It didn't matter, most of the officials
in customs couldn't read the sign
anyway.

                AKANE
I wish they hadn't asked which circus we
belonged to.

GENMA shrugs his shoulders as the bus
bounces along the road. AKANE and GENMA
watch the road signs pass until the bus
hits the village.

21. EXTERIOR - VILLAGE - DAY

AKANE and GENMA step off of the bus,
only to find that the quiet little
village COLOGNE had talked about had
turned into a sprawling town. The two
look around. All over the place, people
are selling souvenirs and objects from
the Jusenkyo Pools. The tourists that
have arrived eat it up. AKANE hunches her
shoulders at the sight and GENMA simply
pats her on the back as the head for a
Girl and Panda restaurant.

The two wander about the city, passing
descriptions of RANMA and RANMA-CHAN to
everyone they see, but no one can tell
the pair anything. As the day continues
on, AKANE and GENMA slow their search.
It is clear that they are getting
nowhere.

                GENMA
              (to AKANE)
Maybe you were right.

                AKANE
There's still a chance. We can find
Ranma.

AKANE and GENMA walk over a bridge,
alone.

22. EXTERIOR - VILLAGE - DAY

RANKO is strolling along the bustling
streets. She looks at everything with
wonder and amusement. RANKO stops
every so often to window shop at the
various stands set up on the street.
The street vendors try to sell their
goods, but RANKO is lost in her own
world...just watching life in what used
to be her village. RANKO smiles. As
RANKO walks along the sidewalk, she
notices something...

CUT TO:
RANKO's point of view.

Across the street, in a small group of
people, RANKO sees a young CHINESE GIRL
who looks exactly like RANKO did before
she drowned. RANKO stops for a moment,
watching the group walk by. The
CHINESE GIRL and RANKO look at each
other for a moment. RANKO follows the
group, curious. Several members of the
group are talking animatedly amongst
themselves about something, but RANKO is
too far away to hear. The group steps
into the doorway of an inn. RANKO
follows along, quietly. One of the
members turn to the CHINESE GIRL,
speaking to her. The person looks
exactly like RANKO's sister. The
CHINESE GIRL nods, and the two go
inside with the rest. RANKO, still
curious, goes into the inn.

23. INTERIOR - INN - DAY

RANKO takes a seat in the corner of the
inn, still watching the group she had
followed. It appears that the group is
celebrating the CHINESE GIRL's birthday.
RANKO sips on some tea as the
festivities continue. Another person
approaches the group. It is a CHINESE
MAN (same age as the CHINESE GIRL).
The GIRL stands up to welcome him. The
two hold hands, then they hug before the
CHINESE MAN sits down with the rest.
After watching the couple greet, RANKO
begins to cry. She quietly slips out of
the inn.

24. EXTERIOR - VILLAGE - AFTERNOON

RANKO, lost in her thoughts, walks out
of town. There are tears in her eyes.

25. EXTERIOR - VILLAGE - AFTERNOON

AKANE and GENMA, still searching for
RANMA, turn another nameless corner in
the tourist trap of a city. AKANE looks
up and sees RYOGA approaching from the
other end of the street. His head is
down as he slowly walks down the street.
AKANE rushes forward and greets her
friend.

                AKANE
      (yelling down the street)
RYOGA!

                RYOGA
             (looking up)
Wha--? Akane!

RYOGA looks a little confused, but he
still jogs forward to meet AKANE and
GENMA.

                RYOGA
I didn't expect to meet you out here...
what are you two doing here?

                AKANE
We're looking for Ranma. Have you
seen him anywhere?

                RYOGA
Ranma?
      (his mood darkens somewhat)
Yeah...I've seen him...

26. INTERIOR - RESTAURANT - AFTERNOON

RYOGA is looking into a bowl of hot
noodles. GENMA and AKANE sit across the
table from him and expectantly wait for
an answer. RYOGA looks up from his
meal.

                RYOGA
So you want to know about Ranma, eh? I
ran into him yesterday just outside of
town. We had a few words.

CUT TO:

27. EXTERIOR - WOODS - DAY

RANKO and RYOGA fighting.

                RYOGA
            (Voice Over)
I'd been travelling around Japan for
several weeks, training and getting into
shape.

RYOGA is seen walking past the Eiffel
Tower, the Kremlin, and the Statue of
Liberty.

                RYOGA
            (Voice Over)
I came across Ranma on my way back to my
campsite. He didn't tell me where he
was going or what he was doing, but it
looked like he was carrying a lot of
camping equipment--

CUT TO:

28. INTERIOR - RESTAURANT - AFTERNOON

Same as scene 26.

                GENMA
         (interupting RYOGA)
Jusenkyo!

AKANE and RYOGA look at GENMA.

                GENMA
It's the only other place Ranma could
go! We can get there by tomorrow!

RYOGA looks at the two several times.

                RYOGA
How could Ranma walk to Jusenkyo?

AKANE and GENMA stare at RYOGA. He
looks back and forth between the two
again.

                RYOGA
Wait a minute...you mean this isn't
Tokyo?

29. INTERIOR - WOODEN SHACK - NIGHT

RANKO is sitting in the corner of a
little wooden shack. The moon's rays
shine down on RANKO as she looks up to
the moon. RANKO is crying. She pulls
out the green and gold pin her sister
gave her shortly after the two arrived
in China. RANKO studies it for a
moment, turning it around in her hand.
RANKO puts the pin away as she looks
back up at the moon.

                RANKO
            (to the moon)
I guess you're all I have left now.
You're the only one who didn't leave me.

RANKO smiles through her tears.

                RANKO
Good night, mother.

RANKO curls up on the floor of the
little wooden shack as the moonlight
bathes her body in a soft glow.

30. EXTERIOR - VILLAGE - DAY

RANKO wakes to find herself in her old
village. Several children of the
village run past her, laughing and
calling each other names. RANKO looks
around, slightly confused, unsure as to
what is going on. She walks down the
village street, looking around
hesitantly. She stops as she sees her
family walk across the dirt road ahead
of her. She jogs closer, but notices
something is wrong. In the crowd, she
sees RANMA, in male form, talking with
her sister. RANKO is too far away to
hear what they are talking about. RANKO
jogs a little faster, trying to catch
up, but her family always seems to stay
ahead of her. The group stops in front
of the family home, and RANKO is able to
catch up.

31. INTERIOR - FAMILY HOME - DAY

RANKO stumbles inside of the house, only
to find she has arrived in the middle of
a wedding. RANMA is the groom and her
sister is the bride. RANKO rushes into
the room, but the floor turns into
water, and she falls in.

                RANKO
             (screaming)
HELP ME!!!

RANMA shakes his head as RANKO's sister
softly cries. No one else seems to
notice. The two turn back to the
festivities as a mirror and fourteen
paintings covered with black shrouds are
brought out as wedding gifts for the
couple. RANMA and SUSAN thank everyone
for the paintings as RANKO drowns in the
middle of the room.

32. EXTERIOR - JUST OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE - NIGHT

GENMA is quickly packing several sacks.
He hums a tuneless song while AKANE
looks up at the moon. RYOGA pads
quietly up behind AKANE. She glances
behind and smiles at RYOGA, then AKANE
turns back to the moon.

                AKANE
              (to RYOGA)
How well do you know him? -- Ranma, I
mean.

RYOGA looks down at his feet, shuffling
them in the dirt.

                RYOGA
We went to junior high school together,
but...

                AKANE
         (bitter and lonely)
Well, for as long as I've known him,
Ranma's been nothing but a jerk. He
always wanted to win at everything...I
hated him for that...

RYOGA looks up at the sound in AKANE's
voice. He reaches up to put a hand on
her shoulder, but before he can
comfort her, RYOGA lets his hand drop.
AKANE doesn't notice...she is lost in
her own thoughts. AKANE looks down.

                AKANE
You know, this might sound a little
funny...but I wish P-chan were here.
He always seemed to make me feel
better.

RYOGA hangs his head.

33. INTERIOR - WOODEN SHACK - MORNING

RANKO wakes to the sound of a fire
crackling outside the shack. She gets
up and stumbles to the door.

34. EXTERIOR - OUTSIDE THE SHACK - MORNING

SUSAN is kneeling over a pot set on a
small campfire in front of the wooden
shack. She looks up at her sister.

                SUSAN
It all seems to come back here, doesn't
it?

She looks up, and RANKO follows her gaze
to the pools of Jusenkyo. The morning
mists had just started to form.

                RANKO
Yes...it does, doesn't it?

                SUSAN
     (still looking at Jusenkyo)
How's the family?

RANKO steps over to the fire, still
looking at Jusenkyo.

                RANKO
There is no family.

SUSAN simply nods.

                RANKO
I was supposed to get married.

                SUSAN
           (voice breaking)
Yes. I know that, too.

                RANKO
That still doesn't mean that I have to
die.

SUSAN turns to look at RANKO. There
are tears in SUSAN's eyes.

                SUSAN
Please don't, little sister. This curse
destroyed my life. Just like I...I
destroyed yours.

RANKO looks at SUSAN for a few moments,
scrutinizing her sister.

                RANKO
What happened?

                SUSAN
            (looking away)
I killed you, sister. I murdered you.
Releasing you from this curse is my
penance.

RANKO attacks SUSAN. The older sister
dodges without any problem. SUSAN
holds her arms up defensively.

                RANKO
         (voice deadly cool)
How could you murder your own sister?!?

                SUSAN
              (pleading)
Don't ask me that.

RANKO attacks again. SUSAN still
manages to dodge out of the way.

                SUSAN
Please, sister, can't you see what I'm
trying to do?

                RANKO
You're trying to kill me again!

SUSAN shakes her head no, then bolts
for the cursed springs. RANKO follows
close behind.

35. EXTERIOR - JUSENKYO - DAY

On the mist covered grounds of Jusenkyo,
RANKO attacks SUSAN again. SUSAN ducks
the blow.

                SUSAN
Sister, I didn't mean to kill you. I
didn't want any of this to happen!
Please, help me lift this curse! Help
me find the Blood!

RANKO is enraged. She does not hear any
of her sister's pleas.

                RANKO
           (attacking again)
You ruined my life! All I ever wanted
was to live and be happy, and you took
it away from me!

One of RANKO's attacks finally connects,
and SUSAN reflexively swings back. Her
shot knocks RANKO to the ground.

                SUSAN
Please...I can't stand to see you in any
more pain. I just want this curse to
end.

RANKO jumps for SUSAN, who dodges again.
RANKO, however, does not land on dry
ground. She lands in the Spring of
Drowned Girl.

36. INTERIOR - POOL - DAY

RANKO finds herself in a blue-white
room. She looks around for her sister.
All she sees are the fifteen shrouded
paintings hanging on the walls.

                RANMA
             (Voice Over)
Hello.

RANKO turns around quickly at the sound
of RANMA's voice. He is standing in
front of a mirror.

                RANKO
Who are you?

RANMA steps closer to RANKO.

                RANMA
I'm the guy whose body you've been
running across China in.

                RANKO
A Japanese boy who can speak Chinese?

RANMA throws his arms up in the air.

                RANMA
Speaking Chinese? Makes sense, I guess,
it's your mind.

RANMA looks around at his surroundings.

                RANMA
Where are we, anyway?

RANKO shakes her head no and shrugs her
shoulders.

                RANMA
Great...look, I'd like my body back, and
if your sister can end this curse --

RANKO takes an involuntary step
backwards.

                RANKO
No!! She took my life away from me! I
lived in Hell for 1500 years because of
her! If ending my life would end my
sister's pain, then I'd rather let her
suffer!

                RANMA
The only person you'd be hurting is me.

RANKO pulls out the pin her sister gave
to her. She begins to roll it around in
her hand.

                RANKO
But...but...I was supposed to live...
have a family. I was supposed to be
married!

                RANMA
So am I. You should know that.

RANKO shakes her head no, balling her
fists.

                RANMA
Think about it. By taking over my life,
all you'd be doing is condemning me to
your fate. By killing me, you'd be no
better than your sister.

                RANKO
             (whispering)
No...no...

RANMA steps closer to RANKO.

                RANKO
You're asking me to die.

                RANMA
So are you.

RANKO feels a sharp pain. She opens her
hand and sees that the pin made her hand
bleed.

                RANKO
The Blood...

RANKO starts to cry.

RANMA stars blankly at RANKO.

                RANKO
This is what she was searching for. The
Blood.

RANKO looks up at RANMA.

                RANKO
             (continuing)
I want you to promise me something.

                RANMA
             (suspicious)
What?

                RANKO
Promise me you'll live a full live.
Promise me that you won't waste any of
it!

RANMA nods solemnly.

                RANKO
             (continuing)
Every moment you have is precious.

RANKO walks to one of the black shrouds
and rips it off of the painting. The
painting is a picture of RANKO and RANMA
curled into a yin/yang symbol, the blue
background in the painting is rippling.
RANKO looks at it for a moment, then
walks over to RANMA. She takes his hand
in hers and leaves him the pin. RANKO
steps backwards and falls into the
painting with a splash. Her body
distorts the picture, destroying the
symmetry in the yin/yang symbol. The
cut on her hand changes the blue
background to a deep red. RANKO looks
one last time at RANMA

                RANKO
             (whispering)
Live for me.

RANKO lets the blood stained water seep
into her lungs.

FADE TO WHITE

FADE IN

37. EXTERIOR - JUSENKYO - DAY

RANMA-CHAN is blinded by the mid-
morning sun at Jusenkyo. Even though
the day is warm, she is cold, soaked
with water. SUSAN cradles RANMA-CHAN
in her lap. She pulls RANMA-CHAN
closer in an effort to keep the sun out
of RANMA-CHAN's eyes. RANMA-CHAN curls
into a ball in SUSAN's lap.

                SUSAN
         (her voice breaking)
Forgive me...please forgive me.

RANMA-CHAN coughs up reddened water as
she takes SUSAN's hand in hers. SUSAN
breaks down and begins to rock RANMA-
CHAN. RANMA-CHAN closes her eyes
momentarily. She opens them again to
find AKANE rocking her, not SUSAN. GENMA
is also kneeling over RANMA-CHAN. RYOGA
is looking off into the distance. RANMA-
CHAN looks at AKANE, confused. AKANE's
look softens.

                AKANE
             (whispering)
Ranma...

RANMA-CHAN closes her eyes again and
squeezes AKANE's hand.

Wow, that was interesting...If you're
wondering where this came from, the
answer's simple. NOBODY has written
anything about the `Tragic Story'. It
was pretty much fair game open to any.
Anyway I toyed around with the idea
that not only was the form transferred
to the cursed person, but the soul as
well...that's where Susan and Ranko
came in.

Several things were left unanswered in
the story intentionally. They will be
taken care of later.

Anyway, thanks for reading this, tell
us...Baka No Hune that is...what you
think by leaving C&C on the ML, we'll
get it. Have a good day, and enjoy
all that you have...you never know
when it might be taken away.

BAKA NO HUNE is:

                    Viper
                    Motenai
                    Momo-Kun
                    Dark Schneider
                    Lochmeadow
                    Ryoga Hibiki
                    Sailor Slacker
                    and
                    Argon

Have fun...

Just as a point: the format we used for these is a true script
format, and when we write these, we actually picture these as someday
becoming animated, not just as stories to tell. Not all of us at Baka No
Hune will use this format when we write. As for the 40-char. setup,
that was as an experiment because we didn't know how the program we
originally typed it on would come out when we formatted it for PINE. We
WILL expand it next time, trust us ^_-.
	C & C is always welcome. Later!!
