the Ranma 1/2 story? (There's supposed to be 3 of them; in one, Ranma
marries Akane. He marries Ukyou and Shampoo in the other two.  The

Akane

one is done but I have yet to see the other two.) I'm just dying to

see

that one! :) 

The reason you don't see many of those is because they're FARKING hard
to write without conducting major surgery on the Ranma 1/2 universe. It
may not be as obvious when you're just watching the show or reading the
manga, but when you try and write in Takahasi's universe, you realise
just how solidly the Ranma/Akane relationship is set.

        I know this very well.  Unlike UY (where Lum's popularity steered
her away from her original plans for Ataru and Shinobu), Takahashi-sensei
set the Akane/Ranma relationship in stone before any serious possible
rivals came on the scene.  It seems that the only three ways for a writer
to set Ranma up with _anyone_ aside from Akane are: killing off said Tendo
(or at least convince Ranma of this, making her sudden return a decade or
so down the line especially angst filled), the couple breaking up over
something one or the other can no longer deal with (Akane's abuse and near
psychotic jealousy come to mind), or just go back and play with the
timeline a bit (if Ranma and Shampoo had not gotten of on the wrong
foot....).
