I fully agree.  Popularity contests just cause bad feelings, 
especially since that's what it is, a popularity contest.  Calling 
such polls "best" is ridiculous, which is why my annual r.a.a poll (5 
years old this year) has always been called a "favorites" poll.

Also, such a poll is sort of redundant, since Agitator's Anime Fan 
Poll, which is also being run for the fifth time, has a Favorite 
Fanfic Writer category.
