No voting for Spam or Revengefics since nobody cares about them anyway.

If no one cared about them, No one would write them...I think the 
existence of the rather HUGE # of revengefics indicates it struck some 
kind of chord in this community.  Besides, what harm would it do?  If a 
story is good, it deserves a chance, regardless of whether's it's 
a bit spammy...If people really don't care, they won't nominate it.

Basically, you've just said, "Fuck you and your creativty too" to a large 
# of people.

Yup. 

This is the kind of thing that makes me worry when people start talking 
about moderating or altering the FFML. No offence to the people involved 
here, but I get worried when people start talking about what a 
'fanfiction' should be, and want to keep everything else out of the topic 
at hand. I have my own likes and dislikes, and they color what I review, 
but I try not to impose them on anyone else; I don't want to see people 
trying to say what they should or shouldn't vote for, much less what 
should or shouldn't get posted.

I appreciate the idea that someone is willing to put out the work to 
compile votes and post results, so I'm happy to see the Piccolo's Best and 
FANFICTION polls.

This is our hobby you know.  I would hardly expect someone to read 
something they didn't like, because it's THEIR free time.

Agreed, and I do appreciate people who take the time out to do this; 
also, as I said above, I have my own likes and dislikes that affect my 
reviewing. But it would bother me if someone let those likes and dislikes 
color what sounds like it's supposed to be a universal poll. I admit I 
don't care for most BGC fics; BGC is IMHO a fairly depressing series, and 
most of the BGC fics I've read have more of that aspect than I like. But 
I also know that this is a personal preference, that has nothing to do 
with the stories themselves, and if I ever did any kind of 'best of' list 
I'd try to give them their due.
