: It is VERY interesting. Here Ranko and Akane obviously love each other,
: but have the additional defense of "Well, we're really both girls aren't
Yep, they are a lot more easygoing because they know that - if it
really came to that - their fathers couldn't really force them to
marry. At the of Volume 1 Akane realizes that Ranko's peace of
mind, concerning their "engagement" does not stem from acceptance,
but from the knowledge that it is simply ludicrous and nothing to
worry over. After that, she could accept that Ranko does not turn
male to spite her, and the two become friends fast. :)
: So as their defenses crumble, they're left even more vulnerable to each
: other than Ranma/Akane are. The big question here is: which way will
: they do it? (I think the author is planning to flip a coin when that
: point comes.)
Nope, the author has the ending completely planned out, and has
already written parts of it, even though it doesn't ocurr until
the end of Volume 6. (The one just begun is Volume 3, "Mothers")
I guess that most people will be let down by it, the same way many
expected more from Takahashi-sans ending (which I loved).
