Subject: [SPAM] Why do people test?

What, I wonder, is the point in 'test'ing a ML? (Sending 'test' messages
to the ML, asking if you're subscribed.)

Yeah, if you're on, you (as well as all the rest of the people, who
probably don't want it, or care) get the 'test' letter.

BUT, if you're still on, and the ML is down ... you WON'T get a reply
(until the ML is up again/fixed) - and then we all get spammed with a
lot of useless 'test' messages.

And if you're NOT on, then you won't get a reply, either.

So what is the point? Why do people spam others with 'test' when it
MAY show them that they are still subscribed. Although I'm not sure
on this point, but I think that you can post to a ML without being
subscribed to it. If that's so, then sending a 'test' message does
nothing at all, but spam people and get WW annoyed.

If you're unsure if you're subscribed, either send a fanfic (quick,
better write one!), reply to a thread, or try to resubscribe yourself.
:p

Don't send 'test'. It's annoying for others, it's spammy in the most
boring way possible, and it doesn't even help show you if you're
still subscribed.

So stop it or I'll bap you. :p
