Okay. Obviously, all sides of this little SNAFU job need to clear this up.
Otherwise, this will turn into a shouting match and we're not going to get
_anywhere_. I propose this; we consider this a "holding episode". Ie,
tactically, this is just a minor skirmish between the Author (Anime?)
Liberation Force (ALF, nice anagram, whoever came up with it ;) and the
Revenging Characters (RC Cola... no, strike "cola". :). Everyone will get
something out of the deal:

Mike gets a shot at Fred, Kergma gets the current hiding place of Fred
(although that could change ;), you BOTH get a potentially dangerous
Rampant AI in MON. Meanwhile, I get a much-needed head-deflation ;), got
showed that I DO indeed have to consider Shadow

As for the retraction, you've obviously missed quite a bit, and that
said I can understand your attempt to wipe out MON. That's sorta why I

Correction. Disable Durandal.

Then spell his name right. If I wanted to be extremely pissy, I would've
written something to the effect that Ghost's interference produced a
fragmented AI called "Durangal", which couldn't do diddly, but lies its
code off.

got snarky.

Frankly, I did too. I was working on revising my previous post (I just
wanted Loader to sit tight while I came up with a counter) and Kergma comes
waltzing in. I was very mad. But then again, I should've told the FFML what
I was doing.
Oops.

Mike Loader sends a message to Wyrm requesting a Plot Hole. Wyrm doesn't
pay much attention and sends one to him.

DOH! I diserved every bit of grief it for getting careless with them.

Mike Loader uses the Plot Hole
to create Eddie Van Crys and open a doorway to Fred. Wyrm tries to
collapse the plot hole, and fails. Using a group mind of several

Ok, this is where things got confusing. Thoses two posts didn't appear on
my email feed since it seems that WW's mailer died.

Probably. My mail account's been acting up as of late.

Btw Wyrm... the communication Mike and I were using is called 'Trump' (
o/~Its a kinda Magic o/~) which is.. how do I put it... magic assisted
<snip>
and no-one in this is one of them ;) (yes, that includes me.)
Understand Trump? Its part of the definition. *No-one* understands Trump.

Heh... I have the Nullnet (another untraceable communications medium), I
don't see why you shouldn't have your Trump. Now I know what to call it.

Worried that I'd be able to trace the Trump itself? Not to worry! I gotta
better way to do it anyway, and it doesn't depend on being able to trace
the actual signal.

Wyrm spaketh:
'Who is that?' Wyrm thought. He ran a scan. No one was there, but there
was a atrom energy converter
         ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Ie, something that translates thought into other forms of energy.

somewhere in the immediate vicinity. Very
high-tech; almost magical. Not that it was beyond *his* understanding.
The signal was clear enough to bug with the hyperstylus as well. He
tapped in... Wyrm raised an eybrow. A flux-matrix stream...
                                         ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Hey! I didn't know what to call the actual signal! I just made it sound
super-scientechie!

Hmmm... the way Trump works is beyond my character's ability, and yours.
You might be able to read the 'Trump Field' (a faint rainbow shimmering
which surrounds users of Trump), but not understand that either, or modify
that, Trump being mental based.

C'mon! There are plenty of mentally-based technologies out there. Time
Lords being one of those creatures who have mastered atrom (the force of
mind) technology.

Anyway, I would say that I could understand the basic principles behind
Trump, not that I could do anything about it, thou. Refer:

Clark's Law: Any technology, sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable
from magic.

Ten's corrilary: Any magic, sufficiently simple, is indistinguishable from
technology.

Ie, magic is technology you don't understand the workings, yet. Once you
know the ins and outs of magic, it ceases to be magic. I argue that, since
I have a high tech-level, I can begin to understand some of the workings
behind Trump. I don't know all the workings.

Okay, I don't know enough about Trump to goof around with it, but I know
enough about it to recognize it for what it is. Sarright? (I'll snip out
the changing address thing. I'll just work to outdate it.)

Hey, BTW, how DID Mike know how to give a Shadow Referent? Has he actually
visited Fred?

authors, we are able to slow things down a bit (mostly due to Fred's
increased temporal speed, basically we add a couple of minutes to Mike's
transit time. That's IT).

ie, we push the opposite end of the plot-hole forward in respect to Now.
Remember, an FTL machine can become a time machine (and vice-versa). I
don't usually screw with the time function, because future is near useless,
and past has a danger of running up against a nasty effect called the
Blimovich limitation principle. Real nasty.

The rest of our effort it to prevent Washuu
(read: MON's archenemy) from locking onto the plot-hole.

THAT will become my main concern.

In no way do we
prevent Mike Loader or his anime hordes, or even Eddie from passing
through the hole.

Well, maybe not Eddie. We wanna crack at him. >:>

They DO make it to Fred.

Provided those two logs are put onto the FFML (without the editing of the
Trump call - I'm rather touchy about people trying to understand
Amber-based forces... you can't. ;) ),

Oh, you do _understand_ it, allright! Predicting a particular instance is
another matter. It's like quantum mechanics. We understand it perfectly
well for the behavior of photons. We cannot, however, make a prediction on
one particular photon based on it, however.

my piece locking up Durandal (and
no Adam, you just can't beat 'ol Ghostie like that ;) )

Well, I would argue that you couldn't force Durandal with those orders.
After all, I built the thing. I've unlocked supposedly locked disks and
written on them (to reestablish some damaged data, of course).

is not needed and
I can go back to what I intended. (Which was? Oh, you'll find out.)

Just hold off on it until I can respond to your suggestions.

Now you're appearance. You come in, scrrew up Durandal, and leave. My
fic, due to an agreement with Wyrm, never happens. Ghost Wheel is
successful. however, he misses the other three AI's.

Urr. I came in on the assumption that Wyrm managed to halt the plot-hole.

There's no reason why you can't practice 'preventitive medicine'.

I didn't see those two fics (Wyrm noticing Mike a traitor and the
DOMINION-MASTER gesalt being used.), so wasn't considering them.

You didn't need to to know about the other three AIs. "Crossing Paths",
which was sent out on the sixth, established both Leela and Tycho, and
Alpha C.

btw Wyrm.. I really have to thankyou for that mispelling... the adventures
of 'Permin' are now being written ;)

It was a misspelling of permanent (reeeaaally atrocious speller here). But
hey! if you can pull a fic off, just be sure to mention my serendipity in
your credits. ;)

Wyrm's fic shows up. He begins damage control, as Durandal is now
completely nuts. He isolates the Insane Durandal AI and loads a backup.
Evidently the same trick wouldn't work with Leela or Tycho, and would be
extremely difficult to impossible with Alpha Centauri (depending on
whether he's joined with me or not at the time). The Plot Hole generator
isn't totally destroyed, but it is out of commission for the moment.
Mike's file is locked in, but as Durandal was nuts when he did it, it is
almost totallly pooched. None of this changes our eventual mission.

*blink* I haven't seen that one either.

Wyrm's Law of Cybernetics: Never trust a damaged AI.

as for dealing with the enless anime hoardes? That's Fred's problem.
I've attached the two fics written by Wyrm on this (previous to yours).
you may consider mine nonexistent, and I will rewrite it as a dream
sequence or something to get rid of it.

Heh - when we put it all together, we are going to have a bit of rewording
to do.

Right! Let's do it (tm)!

Kergma: Correct some spelling. It's "Durandal," not "Durangal". If I see a
misspelling of that name, I will take it to be a fragmented AI, and all
your commands will go to /dev/null. I was lenient ONCE.

Second thing, I can't close the plot-hole YET. After my team gets
extracted, then fry it. Mike will still have a completely collapsed
plot-hole (useless, as it has a bit 'o neutronium stuck in its craw.
Plot-holes do not LIKE neutronium)

MON will be a bit harder to find after you invade, now that I know I'm
vulnerable from that kind of attack.

On the flip side, you will have an insane Durandal sitting in MON. Provided
that you find a hoopy meathod of getting to him in MON, according to
established MONF cannon, then we've got problems. Use him wisely.

Oh, btw, is there any way we can slip in the Cute Redhead Subroutine into
Ghostwheel? It IS a scream to have. :)
