Magic Knight Kyone
Okay, how's this?
"Honou no Ya!" Hikaru shouted as she tossed the Flame Arrow
towards the attacking monster. Barely giving it time to recover, Umi and
Fuu attacked with their swords. Joining the assault, Kyone leapt into
the air and thrust her sword deep into the monster's chest. With a loud
crash, it toppled to the ground.
"That was easy--" Umi began to say as the creature suddenly
glowed with crimson light. All four Magic Knights gasped as it slowly
stood up.Large, leathery wings sprouted from its shoulders, just as its
only eye became as dark as its intentions. When it gazed upon the girls,
it waited no more to release a searing flare from its mouth. The Knights
had to scatter to avoid the ensuing inferno.
"Wha..." Hikaru blinked in surprise. "It became stronger!"
"It's like that monster that first killed Presea!" Umi recalled.
As if proving her point, it took to the air and flapped its wings
strongly
towards the ground, blowing everyone off their feet.
"Imashime no Kaze!" Fuu countered with her defensive blast, struggling
against the monster's air currents. It wasn't enough.
"What's this?" a postal worker asked, carrying a large package
in his arms.
"I dunno," another replied, examining the odd stams it sported.
"Eh? It says it came from a place called Ceph--"
He was interrupted as the box began to shudder, then bounce in
the mailman's arms. With a loud "Puu!" the box fell to the ground and
burst open-- revealing a small white furball with a gem on its forehead.
"Pupuu!" Mokona called cheerfully, hopping towards the
battleground.
"Hah!" Umi thrust with her rapier, trying to skewer the
monster's wing. It was distracted long enough for Kyone to slash with
her sword towards its chest.
"Gwaaaarrr!" it bellowed as the sword wound it severely, but the
bellow quickly faded to a mild whimper as the creature fell once more.
However, before the other girls could congratulate her, they stared
wide-eyed when they saw the monster change shape yet again. Adamant
scales now covered its body, and with its new metallic wings it could
have rivaled even Ascot's strongest pets.
"Umi, Fuu!" Hikaru immediately called, "Let's do it!"
"Eh?" Kyone turned to her. Hikaru, Umi and Fuu lifted their
swords as they summoned...
"Rayearth!!"
"Seres!!"
"Windom!!"
"Oh," the Big Drop of Sweat rolled down Kyone's head.
"Gwooooohh!" the monster challenged as it saw the three gigantic
Machin appear before it, all brandishing weapons.
"This is unbelievable!" came an excited voice from nearby. Kyone
gasped and turned around, spotting an entire news crew. "Oh, great...
It's those reporters again..." She looked up, hoping the Army wouldn't
try to attack the three Machin.
"Kyaa!" inside Windom, Fuu swung her massive weapon at the
monster. It clasped the blade, then twisted its wrist and pushed the
sword down into the earth. With a powerful kick it sent Windom reeling.
"Fuu!" Hikaru watched as her friend fell to the ground, "Hyah!"
She delivered an overhead chop with her flaming sword. The monster
hopped to one side to avoid, then grabbed Rayearth's claw-shield and
spun in place, tossing Machin and Knight into the air. However, this
left it perfectly vulnerable for Umi's attack.
"You stupid bat!" the blue-haired Knight yelled, "Mizu no...
Ryu!!"
A gigantic, dragon-shaped waterspout hit the creature full in
the chest, washing it away. And yet, as it was pushed off, it managed to
send out a hail of magic blasts towards Seres. The third Machin was
knocked towards Windom; Umi and Fuu fell unconscious almost immediately
causing their Machin to vanish into the ether.
"Uh-oh..." Kyone was the only one left to stand against the
demonic creature. But it payed no attention, it was more interested in
what the taste of that news van would be.
"Eh..." the reporter stared blankly as the creature grabbed the
van in its claw. "Uh, you getting this, Phil?"
The cameraman was thrilled with this development, "I'm getting
it! This is gonna cost us our pension but I'm getting it!"
Meanwhile, at another university...
"Kyaaa! MECHA!" Skuld was glued to the TV set, watching the
newscast regarding the monster attack and the Knights battle. To say she
was delighted would be an understatement, she was practically ecstatic
just by watching those red, blue and green robots. Thousands of
questions formed in her mind. How did they work? How were they made? How
did you control them? What was the software running them???
"GWWUUOOOHH!" the winged moster bellowed as the van had turned
out to be too sour. Spitting out the axle, it finally concentrated on
the humans --and their taste.
Trying to divert the creature's attention, Kyone shouted and
slashed at its ankle, then sent a magic blast up to its jaw. Enraged by
the assault, the monster set its only eye towards green-haired Kyone.
She gulped.
"PUU! PUU!"
"Wha..." she turned around out of pure reflex.
"Mokona!" Hikaru and Rayearth had finally come back, the
pigtailed
redhead smiled broadly upon seeing the little furball.
"PUU!" Mokona's gem began to glow with blinding light. Even the
monster had to turn away. But everyone was left utterly speechless as
the light receded.
It was a giant, nearly Rayearth's height. Although its entire
body was a swirl of golden and purple lights, one could vaguely discern
it had the image of a winged humanoid. Standing up, it faced the
monster.
"THAT IS THE LAST OF OUR KIN..."
"What?" Hikaru heard Rayearth's powerful voice.
"IN ANCIENT TIMES, SIX MACHIN WERE CREATED. EMERAUD-HIME AND
ZAGATO POSSESSED TWO, WHILE THE MAGIC KNIGHTS WERE GIVEN ONE EACH.
HOWEVER, THE LAST MACHIN NEVER RECEIVED A BODY. IT REMAINED SOLELY AS A
SPIRIT."
"Then it means that's _another_ Machin?!" Hikaru was impressed.
"Puu!" Mokona cooed happily, then promptly hid into the nearby
bushes.
"How did Mokona..." Hikaru began, but then recalled the manga's
ending and quickly shut up.
"Gwraaaaarth!" the monster bellowed, finally gathering the
courage to fight the ethereal Machin. Snarling, it punched the ground,
creating a mild earthquake that shook everyone off her feet. It was
rearing back for another punch when a blast of light knocked it onto the
ground. Umi and Fuu slowly woke up at the sound of the impact.
With a loud roar, the Machin joined its fists and sent out a
flashing bolt of gold light. The monster lifted its arms as it tried to
defend, but the blast quickly turned it to ashes. Even the first three
Knights were astounded by the Machin's power.
"That... that..." Umi tried to make out what happened.
"A fourth one?" Fuu blinked. Tha Machin kneeled before them.
Nodding to herself, Hikaru dismissed Rayearth and joined the gasping
Knights.
"Okay, if I remember the series correctly..." Kyone thought, "My
sword will grow and my armor will change now that I got a Machin,
right?"
So, the Machin faced her.
And faced her some more.
And went on facing her for another two hours.
"Well, WHAT!?" Umi yelled.
"It needs a body," Hikaru said, "Rayerath said this Machin was
left as a spirit."
"But how will it get a body?" Kyone asked.
"Maybe we could get somebody to build one?" Fuu ventured.
"MAGIC KNIGHTS..." the other Machin called.
"What is it?"
"THE FINAL MACHIN WAS NEVER GIVEN A BODY BECAUSE OF ITS
POWER..." Seres said.
"ONLY A BODY STRONG ENOUGH TO CONTAIN THE POWER OF LIGHT CAN BE
SUITABLE..." Windom followed.
"The power of light?" Kyone wondered.
"Oh, I get it!" Hikaru said, "Seres is Umi's Machin because she
controls water, and Windom is Fuu's because she uses wind. Rayearth is
mad of fire, so I could use him. Since Kyone's power depends on light,
then her Machin is _also_ made of light!"
"Then how do we find a body that--" Umi was once more
interrupted by
Mokona.
"Puu! Pu-puu, puu pupu puupu!"
Umi sweated visibly.
"I think she knows where to find that body!" Hikaru said. She
always surprised everyone by translating Mokona's puuing.
"Then tell us!" Umi shook Mokona, who had a silly grin on her
face as she idly swung back and forth. "PUU!" she called, her gem
glowing once again.
"Where did those mecha go...?" Skuld pouted, then found herself
surrounded by violet light, "Ak--"
"Ak!" a navy blue-haired girl was suddenly tossed out of
Mokona's
forehead through the scarlet gem. Getting up on all fours, Skuld stared
at the four Knights. And noticed the glowing Machin, her mouth opening
widely.
"Her?" Hikaru asked.
"Puu!" Mokona nodded.
"Excuse me," the redhead turned to a flabbergasted Skuld. "We
need you to build a body for that Machin."
"Eh...?" she was still staring blankly.
"HEY!" Umi put a megaphone to Skuld's ear. She immediately got
her
attention.
"What did you do that for!?" Skuld demanded.
"So, can you?" Fuu asked. smiling.
"Build... what? Build a body?" Her eyes slowly widened in
delight, "You mean a mecha? You want me to build a mecha?!"
"Not a mecha. A Machin," Hikaru corrected, "Here, I'll show
you." She lifted her sword, "Okay, hold on to me," Skuld did as
indicated,
"Rayearth!!"
Suddenly both girls were pulled into the fire Machin's spherical
gemstone. The goddess was truly speechless. Still, from the farthest
reaches of her mind, she suddenly came to and smirked, "Okay, so how
does it work?"
After a few hours of metal rending and forging, the youngest of
the three Fates wiped her brow, "I'm done!"
Mokona and the four Knights gasped in awe at the sight of the
gigantic, empty Machin. It was still as large as the others, with an
amethyst on its chest. It was mostly purple, but the edges of its armor
were pure gold as well as its eyes. Similar to Rayearth's claw-shield,
the Machin
had a pair of wide, flat limbs sprouting from its shoulders, each of
these limbs ended in a sharp, crystalline spike, which was connected to
the metal by another circular gem. Also, instead of wings like Seres' or
Windom's, there was a pair of beams on its back. These were broad, and
vaguely resembled a bird's wings.
Without a second wasted, the Machin stood up and entered this
new body. The entire creature shook as it took life of its own, the
wings of light flared and glowed strongly.
"So, I finally have a Machin?" Kyone smirked.
"MAGIC KNIGHT..." it spoke.
"Yes?"
"GIVE ME A NAME."
"Eh?"
"GIVE ME A NAME..."
So, you like it?
The TerBril
(who likes the second Rayearth season better than the first just because
the Machin are used more often.)
