Subject: <FFML>Revenge... I guess it'd be a side story

I sat down at my computer and opened Word. Contemplating the screen I
decided to
start a little work with an idea rolling around my head. I stopped when I felt
a wind from behind
me, and looking over my shoulder I saw Ryouga standing in front of the window of
the room.
I looked back at the computer and typed a few words in, then stopped and
looked
back at the window.
Ryouga was still there and he was holding a bucket of water.
His expression wasn't very happy either.
"This is that Revenge thing, right?"
	"Yes."
I looked at him a moment, then I asked. "Why me? Why you for that
matter?"
"Brendan O'Donnell... Thanks to you I've seen Hell!"
"I haven't given you any additional curses."
"Akane hates me! She saw me turn into P-chan, and now she hates me!
And it's all
because of you!"
Ok, now I knew which Fanfict he was from. I just hoped that he'd keep
talking before
he tried a water based attack on me. "Ah, so your upset that you can't keep
lying to her."
"No, no, I-I never wanted to deceive her, I just..."
"You just wanted her affection so badly you couldn't not do it. If you
had told her
about P-chan after that first night she'd have been mad and embarrassed, but
she'd have gotten
over it and forgiven you. When you chose to return and maintain the P-chan
disguise, however
you made that impossible because you went from being along for the ride to being
an active
instigator. From then on, you couldn't tell her because it became a personal
betrayal of your
friendship."
Ryouga had looked down guiltily during this statement, however he then
looked up and
said angrily. "She never found out in the prime universe, she didn't have to
find in your story!"
"It fit in with what happened. Besides as long as you maintained your
romantic
obsession with Akane discovery was a constant risk for you. You don't really
have any chance
of getting Akane, so you'll have no chance of happiness until you accept this
and get over her.
Besides I hooked you up with Akari at the end of the story."
	"You haven't written it yet!"
"I also haven't written your transformation scene yet, but I've got as
clear a mental
picture of that scene as I've got of the end so that's not a valid argument."
Ryouga looked down then he shook his head and said. "Enough Talking!"
He grabbed
the bucket with both hands and pulled it back. I looked at the bucket,
contemplated my
chances of avoiding the splash, and upon realizing how abysmal they were I
sighed and waited.
A cloaked figure appeared out of nowhere and grabbed the bucket away
from Ryouga.
"Revenge will have to wait." the figure in black said.
"WHO ARE YOU TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!" Ryouga responded with a flurry
of punches. The cloaked figure seemed to stand still while every punch missed.
 Then suddenly
there was a hand sheathed in a luminescent black energy field pressed against
Ryouga's chest.
Withdrawing the hand the cloaked figure said. "That'll do." Ryouga
collapsed to his
knees in response.
I looked at the cloaked figure, and decided to quit calling him a
cloaked figure since I
knew which Fanfict he had walked out of.
	"Ranma."
He turned to look at me, then pulled back the hood of his cloak
revealing the familiar
face, black hair and pigtail, changed only by an unnaturally pale complexion,
and a red tint to his
irises. "You knew, just as expected."
Of course, he's the undead time traveler from that fict I started over a
year ago and
have mothballed for a long time. I think of the background I gave him and I
become a lot more
worried than I was about Ryouga.
"What have you done to me?" Ryouga said as he tried and failed to raise
his arms.
Ranma looked down at him then taped the side of his neck. "Quiet."
Ryouga mumphed
a few moments, then slumped and focused his remaining energy into glaring at
Ranma.
"Uh, you, want your vengeance uncontested, right?" I said, wishing
there was some
garlic closer than the kitchen.
"Wrong." He said quietly. Setting the bucket on the ground he looked
right at me and
said. "I'm here because I want your help."

	"what?"
"Actually it would be better to say that WE need your help." Ranma
amended. "Now,
I'll admit that your part in what I've been through is not easily forgiven."
	*Uh oh*
"Becoming a Vampire, living through a hundred years of hell, and all
because it fit a
concept you thought up."
*Maybe if I jump out the window it'll be quick and relatively pain
free.*
"But the fact is I don't hate you for it. The circumstances were bad,
but you gave me
the chance to make up for them, and you were pretty nice in writing me for the
main story."
	*THANK GOD!!!*
"I might be tempted to do something small to you under normal
circumstances, but
things aren't normal. This Fanfict Revenge thing isn't what it seems. I can
see an unseen hand,
and you know my experience at that."
I had made this Ranma the vampiric progeny of a truly ancient vampire
who had taught
him scheming and manipulation that made Nabiki look like Kuno in comparison.
And that's just
what Ranma had learned, his Progenitor was better than him down to the moment
she died.
	"Who?"
"I don't know." he replied. "However I've made contact with someone
else who came
to the same conclusion, and she's added some really disturbing things."
	"She?"
	"Ranko Jusenkyo."
She was the result of a mental exercise to see how powerful I could make
Ranma
without sacrificing credulity. My method was a what if storyline where Jusenkyo
was magically
flooded when Ranma and his father had arrived, and when Ranma fell in he
discovered that the
springs were what was left of a lake where a dragon drowned an incredibly long
time ago. The
curses were a mild residue of the dragon's shapechanging power. However Ranma
arrived at a
time when the draconian influences were particularly strong, and this coupled
with the similarity
of his spirit to a dragon's caused him to become a newborn version of the dragon
who was once
drowned. With hot water restoring him to his original self, of course. Since
the dragon had
been female, it was easier for Ranma's dragon side to take on female shapes, and
by the time
she acquired the skill to shapechange into male forms she no longer felt any
real desire to.
"Why is she going through you?"
	"She's asleep."
	I looked at him.
"She contacted me with a dream, apparently she can't make herself wake
up until her
dreams run their course, and she's worried that might be to late."
That was confusing sounding, but in the story, one of the reasons Ranma
and Ranko's
personality diverged was that once Ranko developed a dragon's basic habit of
simultaneously
thinking two dozen separate thought strings at all time her memories became
incomprehensible
to her human half. Apparently one of her thought strings was able to partially
imitate
consciousness, and make contact with this alternate Ranma.
"Ok, can you tell me what she's so worried about, and how I fit into
this?"
"Well as to what's worried, like me she's seen some unseen hand
manipulating events to
create the situation you've seen on the mailing list. Thing is she's also had a
precognitive vision.
She's seen what might happen if events unfold unchanged:
"On the anime side, it's not just us, it's our entire universes.
They'll be destroyed.
"And you folk, well you'll probably survive, but you'll be radically
changed for all time.
The very nature of Humanity will be changed and all capacity for imagination and
creativity will
be destroyed forever." He fell silent.
"How? and can it be prevented?"
"I can't see how it could happen myself, and Ranko hasn't said anything
on that matter.
She has said that her vision is of the likely outcome and not the definite
outcome." Ranma
looked down and said. "And as for your role in changing these probabilities, I
don't know
myself. Ranko said, however that your knowledge would impact on the course of
future events
in a way favorable to us." He grinned, revealing his vampiric fangs and added.
 "He also said
don't let you get avenged because till you get round to uploading your stories
our existence is
tied to your mind." He looked down at Ryouga, and taped his right temple a
second before
touching his index finger just under the bandanna on Ryouga's forehead and
concentrating for a
few moments.
"Wha," Ryouga asked and he pulled himself to his feet. He swayed
dizzily for a
moment, then took a deep breath and steadied himself. "I guess you'll want me
to head back
now." Ryouga said quietly.
"Keep in mind what you've heard. Brendan's not to be interfered with."
	"C-could the universe really?..."
"It's happened before, if imagination and creativity bite the dust we're
all doomed.
Don't worry, I'll be working to prevent this, and so will Ranko."
"Ok, but how did you stun me like that?"
"Oh, that's just something I picked up. You see..." Ranma paused and
lifted his cloak
to cover both of them, then they faded from reality.
All that left was me, my computer, and a bucket of Water. *The water
could be
trouble.*
Needless to say I carefully picked up the bucket, and carried it
downstairs. I took out
some old plastic bottles, and with a funnel I filled them with what had to be
Jusenkyo water.
Then I took them down to the cellar and put them in a corner of what was once a
coal
storeroom. That taken care of I went back to my computer and prepared to log
onto the
Mailing list and discover what was happening with the building war.
