I am the Watcher...well I accaisionally say stuff but I do watch.
 *ahem*
I am the Watcher, This is but a possible revenge-fic...one of man...
ah forget it...mabe two of man....

               Caught in Amber.

"So, what your telling me is that you feel... well sort of used?"
I stroked my beard thoughfully and listend to this earnest young
readhead. What she said almost made sense... Well almost.
Growing up in Amber yo usee a lot and hear even more... but the whole
idea that it was all...no, that was well just stupid.
"What about the Primal Pattern? a voice whisped mockingly in my head,
"Had you forgotten about that or did you think it would go away?"
 "Shut up!"
The girl...no woman flinched, "Sorry, just thinking about what what you
said and having a bit of denyal...more wine?"
The woman nodded and gave me a shy smile. She had recounted her tale
over a few glasses and had developed a slight flush across her face...she
also seemed well,...taken with the whole concepts of multiple realities
and had little or no difficulties in accepting them.
"Thank you." She said. "I wish...Well, I wish that what I thought was
just a stupid idea... but the data doesn't lie. I talked with the others
and, well Priss says it's stupid and won't have anything to do with the
idea Sylia is amused and playing some sort of game, and Mackie is
well...um." She blushed a deeper rose" Well he's Mackie. I didn't even
bother telling Linna, Priss may pick on me more but what Linna says she
really seems to mean."
The aformentioned data lay on the table infront of us an optical disk and
several sheets of paper. The products of a high-tech world looked out of
place in the castle.. especially since there was no place a coputer disk
like that could ever be used in all the world.
"Well, there is a way to put this all to the test." I said. The winewas
yellow and smelled a little like pears.
I took a bit of chease and nibbled on it.
 "I have an..er..."Friend"...who's a ...um Well, acxtually he's sort of a
member of the family....or not..."
She looked puzzled...almost as awkward as I felt trying to explane...
"Maybe I'd better show you"
I took the cool pieces of pasteboard from the leather case on my belt and
shuffled them out... ah there he was. I picked up the card and
concentrated...made contact.
*Who?* a cold thought brushing through my mind and as it passed picking
up what it wanted.
*Robyn* I answerd silently anyway...ever the polite one.
 *I need a little help almost-uncle*
*Obviously, This is not a social call. You are after all, with a lady*
*Oh please not you too*
*Sorry* the voice felt warmer now and rippled in silent amusement.
*I know that under that sneaky, womanizing, sedutive, treacherous,...did
I mention womanizing?*
 *HEY!!!!!*
*Sorry* There was no regret in the tone *What is it?*
"Can we actually talk? I feel stupid just sitting here."
*Of course* "Now what exactly did you call me about?" Silence moved to
sound and the Woman, Nene she called herself, startled a bit.
"It's o.k." I attempted to calm her, "It's only Ghost."
"A Ghost?" Her voice rose an octive in a little shriek. I didn't blame
her.
"No" Ghost replied, a silver ball which rippled with light popped into
view. "As in GhostWheel...me. Think of me as a sort of computer."
A sort of computer I thought....a really scary sort of computer that
could change most of reality as we knew it if we wanted to...that sort of
computer."
Nene instantly moved from panic to facination " What sort of computer she
asked? I like computers...and well...is he yours?" she asked me suddenly
looking at me in a way which...well let's just say I've seen a lot of
women look at me that way and I like it.
"No." Ghost replied before I could take any credit. "More acurately I'm
mine....think of me as self-aware and thus able to fully enjoy thought,
dreams and pretty girls such as yourself."
"Th..thank you." Nene's blush looked like a 3 alarm fire now
I don't belive it...I felt as if I had been slapped (and I know that
feeling well also. I had just had my thunder stolen by a machine....ah
well, there were always more blooms in the garden of life.
"ERRum" I cleared my throat."What we called you for was to take a look at
this." I indicated the disk with a wave of my hand.
"Hmmm." Ghost hovered over the disk. "May I?"
"Of course." Nene whispered.
The quicksilver sphere slowly settled on the disk and then cupped itself
over it... a few seconds and I knew the disk had been read and throught
Shadow GhostWheel was perfoming...doing whatever he did.
"Well," He said at last...It seems we have somebody here who's messing
with reality here and not even having the dececy to type it out when he's
finished..."
There was a low humming and from somewhere came a pile of notebooks.
"Look." Ghost said. "Ink... and not even proper ink.. where Do you get
that shade of green and why would anybody want to?"
Nene lept to her feet and eagerly moved to inspect our prizes. She
grabbed one of the notebooks and, frowning at writing... penstrokes
that were of a geometry not known to any reality...began to read. Her
features were both terrified and triumphant now.
"This is it...This will show them all." Suddenly she moved
over and gave me a quick peck on the cheek. "Thank you Robyn... without
you to belive me....I don't know what I would have done."
"It was nothing." I said quickly feeling myself flush...why did this
always happen? And how on earth did those green eyes of hers shine like
that?
"The question," Ghost stated, starting both Nene and I. "Is what's to be
done about it... and something should be done about it."
 "Yes," I said. "Something should."
"I have an idea." I noticed my voice going into what I think of as "sneak
mode" as I said this.
"Oh?" Nene looked a little apreensive.
"Why don't we...um...get a few of those....others. And then pay our
friend a little #visit# ."
"If anyone ever doubted you were from Amber, hearing you say that would
quiet any suppositions." Ghost's voice was full...respect? and somehow I
did not really feel all that proud of his coplement. I decided to let it
lie.
I picked up my glass and toasted my two friends then.
  "Alright, let's do it."

                            (to be continued)

                    Full beautiful, a faery's child,
Her hair was long, her foot was light
                    And her eyes were wild.
