*Sploosh!*
"Agh!" Darren shouted with mixed surprise and anger as the shock
of being unexpectedly splashed with water registered. He recoiled from the
computer, instinctively knowing the danger to his system, and his chair
swung around to face the practical joker. *God dammit! It's not her style,
but it has to be Lorelei!* he thought furiously, thinking about his older
sister. "Listen, Lore..." His word trailed off as he numbly saw who had
done the deed.
It wasn't his blonde sister, it was three strangers who weren't
really strangers to him. One was a teenager with black hair tied in a
pig-tail, blue eyes, and wearing a red chinese shirt and black pants. The
boy held a now-empty bucket.
Darren named him. "Ranma...." The martial artist grinned
wickedly and nodded. Then the fanfic writer looked at the next one.
It was another teenage boy about Ranma's age who wore a bandanna
with a yellow and black pattern Darren knew by heart. The clothes were
irrelivant, the bandanna and looks told him all he needed.
"Ryouga..." The eternally lost boy sneered, showing his sharp
fangs. And the last person...
This time it was a female and older than the two boys by a good
bit. She wore an impeccably made business suit tha displayed her lean form
to her advantage, not yours. Her expression was cold on her pale but
elegant face framed by purple hair.
The wet author knew her too. "And Madagan," he sighed, she didn't
respond with any sort of expression.
Then Darren blinked. Water... Closing his, now her, eyes
painfully, she finally noticed her clothes didn't fit right anymore. The
shock of the three Anime characters had delayed the acknowledgement of the
cursed water's effects until now. Reaching behind her head, she noticed
her hair was longer somehow and a peek through her eyelids showed it to be
red now.
"Let me guess," she replied shakily, "the Skjam! thing wasn't just
kidding."
"Nope," Ranma cheerfully replied.
"Do I look like you now?" Darren carefully said. "Your female
half?"
"Yup," the pigtailed boy affirmed with even more cheer. "Beats me
why."
Darren flexed his hands, reluctantly opening his eyes. Odd, the
joints felt great, and they usually felt sore after a rare typing spree
like she had just finished. Luckly, she didn't have a macho mindset so she
could adapt to this. Still felt wierd though. She tried ignoring the
shifting under shirt as she looked at the trio.
"So you can exist, that explains a few things on the mailing
list," she said, wondering about the reason for their presence. "I suppose
you're about to tell me why you just did this?" Ryouga blinked.
"You don't seem upset, or even frightened," he said, puzzled.
"Oh, I've got adrenaline going now, but I'll do the frightened to
pieces thing later when I've had time to think about all this. As for
being female..." She looked at her hand again. Best not to mention
that. "I've felt something like this would give better insight to the
other sex."
Madagan scowled, and Darren was shoved back into his desk by an
unseen hand. "Which is why you allowed Dr. Miriam to do what he did?" she
said with hate.
"If I knew then what I know now..." Darren sighed, but Madagan
simply glared at her.
"What about me?!" Ryouga complained. "You dragged me into another
universe, away from Akane, only to have my only purpose be to save your
sorry skin from an already damaged boomer!"
'My' skin? Darren wondered. Wait a minute... he thought but first
he had another question. "Why are YOU here, Ranma?"
"I found out about two little 'stories' of yours, that's what!"
the red-shirted boy suddenly shouted angrily..
Darren blinked, then her eyes widened. "Oh shit! But I've never
even typed those!"
"Doesn't matter," Ranma snarled, "Cursing you is only the
beginning for what you planned, and these two came to help." Ryouga and
Madagan smiled cruelly.
"Um..." Darren said hesitantly, a little scared at last now the
the reality of her situation sunk in. "What about one thing?"
Ranma paused, scowling. "What's that?"
"If I wrote you... then what about Twister?"
All three blinked.
"I mean, he is me," Darren went on, "And you three seem to have
gotten here with no problem, and people keep telling me he's pretty
powerful." Darren frowned, what would he do... Oh. She sighed. "Where are
you, Twister? Come on out."
"Ah, there's my cue," a voice familar to Darren's chuckled.
The anime trio whirled to the door behind them and found a
brown-haired figure standing between them and the exit who wore a black
cloak with blue trim. His face was a near match to Darren's, as it should
since he WAS him in a way. His smile grew as the trio's faces paled.
"Maybe next time," Twister said. Before the three intruders could
react, they vanished in a sudden blaze of white light. "I love
pre-arranged trans-universal teleports, don't you?"
Darren slumped in her chair with a relieved sigh. "Thanks."
Twister chuckled. "No problem. How can I get mad at myself? We're
just not built that way. At least when we're whole," he amended.
"Maybe," Darren said, "But why wait?"
"Well," Twister hummed, "like you said: it provides insight. Trust
me on that. Besides, someone had to work a bit so that Skjam's scheme
worked." Darren straightened rigid in shock.
"YOU'RE helping this?!?!?"
"Like you said, again: I am pretty powerful. And I have a sense of
humor to boot.." Twister grinned. Besides, I need you like this tohelp me
with something I discovered... sis."
Darren groaned. "Just... great."
