Hmmm.
I had a real problem with the "one-night stand" between Ranma and Ukyou.
I have a difficult time accepting all the little coincidences - both of
them being too out of it to realize who they're doing it with, Ranma
getting kicked out of the house, only to end up at Ucchan's rather than
elsewhere, etc. Problem is, since this act sets the stage for the rest
of the story, it tends to put a taint on the rest of the work.
Er... You do realize that nothing happened, don't you? They didn't have
sex - Ranma was just so hard up (so to speak) that he had a dream about
having sex with Akane, and when he woke up next to Ukyo, he thought he'd
done it with her.
I think you need to make that clearer. I wasn't sure myself.
You also mention when Ukyo finds Ranma in the cave, that he is in girl
form, and Ukyo thinks this is strange because she didn't think it had
been raining. So why WAS Ranma in girl form?
Well, I didn't want to spell it out, but Ranma was pretty disgusted with
what he thought he did as a guy, so he turned himself female. In a way
he was acting like his father; using his cursed form to hide from his
problems.
Also, I thought I did make it clear in the cave that no sex happened.
Ukyo tells Ranma in no uncertain terms that sex did not happen. At
least, I thought it was clearly spelled out. If you read that scene, do
you still have problems discovering that they didn't have sex?
When I first read the story, the impression I recieved from the emotions
when Akane visited the shop, the cave scene itself, and the scene at the
train station was that Ukyou lied to Ranma in the cave to protect his
marriage. I could have been mistaken, as I was under considerable strain
at the time. However, as I am not the only one who had a problem with it,
it apparantly isn't as clear as you would like to believe.
