EXACTLY!!!
Ukyo only wanted to stop the wedding. Shampoo, on the other hand, saw
an opening and TOOK it. Her amazon training was enough to remove her
obstacle (Akane). She never took into account the repercussions of her
actions.
Ukyo's life consists of only two things 1. Okonomiyaki 2. Marry Ranma.
Ranma knew this and tried his hardest to remove both items from her life
and succeeded almost completely.
I'm not very good at fight scenes and that includes torture scenes. ^_^
So, Shampoo died rather quickly.
Another aside, after v38 Ranma would not be able to survive the death of
Akane. He still has a LOT of maturing to do. Akane _would_ be able to
survive Ranma's death. She's more mature and has survived, admirably,
the death of her mother.
