Okay. Decorum.
1. Don't spam too much. Wolf got on all our cases a couple of days ago
about that.
2. Keep the foul language to a minimum. Extreme vulgarity is frowned
upon on the 'net.
3. When posting C&C about a 'fic, if you don't like it, say why. Simply
saying "This sucks!" gets the author nowhere, and makes you look the
fool. When responding to C&C (which you will probably receive once you
post a 'fic), be somewhat civil about it, defending your actions calmly
if you happen to disagree. If you like the 'fic, and want to say so,
say so. We authors like to know that there's someone out there reading
this stuff.
4. It is usually best to wrap the text at less than 80 characters per
line, if for no other reason than RAAC requires a 60-80 char wrap on all
of the 'fics posted there. This message follows that, by the way.
First off, is there any special requirement to post a Ranma 1/2 fanfic
in this group? If so, let me know! I have one in the works (actually,
its starting to look like a ongoing series) and I'd like to let someone
other than myself see it.
Posting a 'fic to the ML is as easy as this post was - except for the
writing part. If it's a lemon, say so - a large number of people here
(writers included) are still minors. Put the title on the header, of
course. If it is part of a series, put the part or chapter number.
Anything beyond that is pretty much up to you. Just a warning: if it's
got serious grammar, spelling, or punctuation errors or goes seriously
OOC (out of character) without explanation, be ready for some criticism.
If you have personal preferences about the C&C (i.e. no flames, only
private C&C, etc.), put them in wherever the notes go in the 'fic
(usually on the end). Once the final copy is done, it is probably a good
idea to post it to the remailer and to RAAC, as well as the ML.
Second, if I AM allowed to post my fanfic (the first draft, anyway), how
long should each section be? I've barely started and this sucker is
already 16 pages long.
If it's too long, it might be best to send it as an attached text file.
Attached files tend to go down a lot easier than direct written text
(like this). The usual rule is, if the 'fic is around 2000 lines long,
it is better sent as an attached file.
Okay, now that's out of the way, maybe I should introduce myself. My
real name is Adam J. Barnes. this is the last time you will see me use
this name. If anyone else uses this name I will send them flame e-mail
until their service provider crashes. My handle is Alpha Centauri, the
name I ALWAYS use online. any contraction of said handle is acceptable.
Greetings, Alpha Centauri. My name is Nick Leifker, known to most around
here as Nightelf. I've been an anime fan for about 16 months now, and
have been posting 'fics since March. My stuff tends to be dark Ranma
'fics, though I do break out into comedy on (very) rare occasions. Just
a note: If your writing is worth its salt, it might be best if you at
least put your real name on your 'fics. When I first posted "Sunrise" to
RAAC, I only posted under an alias, without using my real name. One
problem: When you put your heart and soul into your writing, such an
arrangement can be frustrating, as I learned.
I've been a Ranma 1/2 fan for less than a year, but I'm already badly
addicted (if there is such a state) and most of my free cash is going
into building my video library. I DO like other anime, but none of it
has really gotten the deathgrip on my pocketbook like Ranma 1/2. I'm
almost afraid to take a look at Rumiko Takahasi's other stuff for fear
of going completely broke.
Addicted is the right word. To quote a bumper sticker, "Anime: drugs are
cheaper." Me...My video collection isn't that large (mainly Ranma 1/2
Collector's Edition tapes), but I have all the Ranma 1/2 import manga,
which can be quite a useful resource when writing.
Hopefully I haven't blown too many posting rules with this message. If
so, feel free to flame me (sigh). As for my story, if you're really
interested in seeing it, let me know and I'll step up production. Part 1
should be ready in about a month or so (maybe sooner).
Sorry, forgot my napalm.
Actually, you did better than most. One major error: Try to make your
email address more accessible, if possible. I first sent this to your
private address, only to get the old "undeliverable mail" error.

Nice quote, BTW. One other thing: if you haven't already checked it out,
you might want to look at what's in the remailer. There are a lot of
'fics which Wolf hasn't put on the Ranma 1/2 Fanfic Guide Page yet, some
of which can be found there. The address, in case you haven't already found
out, is ftp@ranma.net. All you have to do is send a blank message to the
address and you'll get a listing of 'fics available.
Take care, have fun, and good luck.
