I've been unhappily awaiting the message above; although I feared that WW
would just shut down the ML, rather than go through the hideous task of
having to moderate this list. Undoubtably, at least in my opinion, what has
pissed him off so badly is the ratio of SPAM to C&C andfanfics. It's very
bad! New people who are attracted to this ML are put off by the sheer
amount of moronic spam and leave. The older members either bitch (sadly,
uselessly) or start lurking, or, and much worse, they too go away.

I really agree with you on this.. but since I just dl the ML and have my
filter work on it I don't see all the crap that is going on... I only have
my Emailer filter and keep the Stories and topics that I personally like.
I'm on several ML's and don't have a problem... sometimes one or two get
through... like a few of emails that are "have an attached copy of the
original mail that was being replied to." I don't have a problem with
that... it just takes a little longer... But I don't even see that...
When I log on to my ISP (internet service provider) I have a program that
runs my Browser, Email, NewsReader all at the same time... all sharing the
BPS of my modem.. (a 28.8 if your wondering.. I don't have anything higher.
not yet anyways.) So I'm getting mail, news, and Web pages all at the same
time.
Anyways... I don't think that it would be great to moderate the list... but
also bad to do that...
I just think that we should be considerate and think about what we want on
the ml and just have spam and the like to be passed around in private email...
