I stayed up too late last night, and ended up writing the following essay,
I hope you enjoy it.:
										
       "Infinity, Variance, Transfictionality, and Other Weirdness"

        Earlier tonight I was splitting my time between browsing
newsgroups, doing some moderation stuff for RAAC, practicing my hiragana,
and catching up with an email backlog.  That's when all the trouble
started.  Usually when I stay up way too late, I just end up doing
something like falling asleep while very tired, and then subsequently
sleeping into part of my first class of the morning.  Unfortunately
tonight, that didn't happen, and I started thinking (uh, oh).  Now when I
start thinking, I don't think about how good the piece of fanfiction that I
read the other day was, or how I'd rather be in Alaska where the weather is
nice and cold, but instead, I start thinking about theoretical physics
centering around the dimensions.  

        Now, thinking about theoretical physics centering around the
dimensions may not seem like such a bad thing, but it is, since whenever I
do, I need to convey my thought to someone else.  So now, I bring you the
essay of the night.

        Let's start it with what the rest of the world of theoretical
dimensional physics takes for granted.  The first dimension is an
infinitely long straight line.  The second dimension is the first dimension
stretched an infinitely long distance at 90 degrees, creating a plane.  The
third dimension consists of the first two dimensions stretching off into
infinity at a 90 degree angle.  The fourth dimension consists of the firsts
three dimensions sliding along an infinitely long first dimensional line
enduring change, entropy, and evolution.  The fifth dimension can be called
variance and defines an infinite number of universes that embody dimensions
1-4 in an infinite number of ways with an infinite number of copies of each.  

        For reference, we (or at least I) have two eyes.  Each of our eyes
sees a two dimensional rendering of the three dimensional area where we
exist.  Those two eyes seeing similar, but different pictures allow us to
visually percieve the third dimension, and we also percieve the fourth
dimension through our memory of our senses and emotions (although, it's
really not possible to know that any time has existed other than now).

        Personally, I need to work with a more flexible set of dimensional
physics.  I have to take into account the zeroth dimension.  The zeroth
dimension allows variance and infinity in the definition of all dimensions
past it.  This means that there are an infinite number of ways that an
infinite number of universes could operate.  An infinite number of these
have a (conventional) fourth dimension that encourages order and
discourages entropy.  Some may have an infinite number of physical
dimensions in which entities may move and an infinite number of time like
dimensions that those infinite number of physical dimensions slide along.
An infinite number may be big pink and fluffy, and an infinite number could
be alive and very very tired.  The universe as we percieve it occurs an
infinite number of times along the zeroth dimension.  An infinite number of
instances of our percieved dimension only contain only 4 dimensions within.
 An infinite number of them allow for finite or infinite numbers of
variations upon what we percieve.  This is all very confusing, but of
course, that's what happens when we attempt to look at infinity.

        Now, let's get to transfictionality.  For this, let's pick a spot
along the zeroth dimension that our familiar 3 physical dimensions, a
sliding fourth dimension that allows for two-directional skipping and
dialation, all the niceties like cause and effect, a fifth dimension for
infinite redundant universes, and a sixth for infinite varied universes.
Let's also allow for limited universe shifting (i.e. you must be in a
universe that allows shifting in order to shift into another universe) and
dependencies (one variant can be dependant on an aspect of another
variant).  Now we're all set up to explain transfictionality.

        In our sample position along the zeroth dimension,
transfictionalism occours infinitely.  The first way is by coincidence.
With an infinite number of universes, whatever anyone thinks up is bound to
happen an infinite number of times in an infinite number of variant
universes.  The second way (that I can comprehend) deals with dependancy.
Of those infinite number of universes, and infinite number of them are
dependent on an infinite number of things in an infinite number of other
universes.  Every story that has, is, or will be written or thought of,
exists somewhere.

        Somewhere, Megazone and Grypon are part of the the WDF.  Somewhere,
Bert Van Vliet masquerades as Skyknight, and fights boomers.  Somewhere
Chris Schumacher is in bed with a Hibiki.  Somewhere Twister has
unbelieveable powers.  Somewhere Ranma gets along with some guy named Pat.
Somewhere Akane has already had 6 children, and in some places, the
darkfics tend to come true.

        Now that we're almost done, let me say that the representation of
reality that I have described isn't quite right, but is a bit easier to
explain and comprehend than "infinity to the power of infinity to the power
of infinity streched out through infinity".

        Think about this all when you have some time to kill, and have a
nice day.
