Ranma had gone. Gone because of one little insult and his stubborn
pride. Gone to prove that he was the *best* martial artist in the
world. Why? He'll get hurt! I want my Ranma back, that.. that... BAKA!

I then realised that everyone was staring at me. Looking down, I noticed
that I had broken my bowl, and cut my hand.

"Oh my."

"Sister dear, those bowls are expensive."

Why is she doing this to me? She is the one who goaded Ranma into doing
these STUPID CONTESTS! I whirled on Nabiki, my money-loving sister.

"What do you care! Its because of you that Ranma went away you.. you..
you..."

I couldn't take it anymore. Sobbing, I ran up to my room and slammed the
door. Oh Ranma. I really do miss you.

                                      ~~~~~
Soun burst out in tears again. "Oh my daughter!  When will you ever
marry?  Waaaaaaaaa"
Nabiki, ever practical (and faintly disgusted by her father's tears)
said, "Oh please father, not in the house."
Genma merely held up a sign reading "I wonder how he's doing?"
                                      ~~~~~

"Sheesh! Why do these Grandmaster types have to live in such remote
places?" panted Ranma as he contemplated the next stage of his climb.
Rising up ahead of him was a mountain, said to be the abode of the
Grandmaster of an art so secret, even its followers didn't know its full
name.

                                      ~~~~~
"Uncute Tomboy!"
"Ranma you jerk!  Come back here!"
"Make me!  I am the best martial artist ya'know!"
"Prove it."
The last, delivered in a flat monotone, brought Ranma up short, enough
that Akane could come up and deliver a wicked blow with her mallet.
Which Ranma dodged.
"Not now Akane, I want to know what Nabiki wants.  So Nabiki, what do you
mean?"
"Just what I said.  Prove it.  Prove that you are the best martial artist."
"..."
"You keep telling us that you are, so PROVE IT!"
"FINE!  I WILL!"
And with that practiced rejoiner, Ranma stormed off, back to the dojo,
leaving Akane to look between Ranma's back and Nabiki looking very pleased
with herself.
"Nabiki... why did...   Ranma!  Wait!"
But it was too late.  Ranma's mind was set.  He would go out and prove
that he was *THE* best martial artist.  Oh yes, he'd show Nabiki how good
he was.  He'd show them all, especially Akane.  Not that he'd marry her of
course, but he had to prove it.
                                      ~~~~~

"Ok, I'm here *pant pant* How do you want to be beaten? *pant pant*
 After I catch my breath that is."

The Grandmaster merely looked at Ranma, and set down his pipe. After
Ranma caught his breath, he spoke.

"So, you want to beat me eh?"

"Yes! I am going to prove myself as being the best martial artist in the
 world"

"You must be pretty good then."

"Naturally. I've already defeated most of the world's champions and now
 you're next."

"Very well. To do it properly, you must beat me at my own art. The
 contest begins now."

Ranma sprang into a guard position, awaiting the first attack. The
Grandmaster merely sat there, toying with his pipe.

"Uh. What is the exact nature of this contest?" Ranma finally asked,
deciding that he'd better not attack just yet.

The Grandmaster smiled and answered, "Hunger."

Short, silly, and a contest that Ranma cannot honourably win ;)
