Ranma part 5

A Girls Challenge

story and was  written purely because I didn't have anything better to
do at the time.  

Authors Note: O.K this is it there is no way that this story is going any
 longer than this chapter.

The Story So Far... After being conned into a Martial Arts Beauty Pageant, 
Ranma along with various women from the series including Akane, Shampoo, and 
Ukyou have decided to strut their stuff along with a new girl, Miyaka, to 
find out who amongst them is the best looking.  Miyaka has declared that the 
winner of the Pageant gets to be Ranma's one true love.  We are now currently 
in the second round of the Pageant and the only contestants left are Ranma, 
Akane, Tsubasa, Shampoo and Miyaka.

Chapter 5
The scene opens into a view of a large hall.  Dominating the back wall of the 
room is a large catwalk and stage.  The stage itself has a roof which is  
suspended by wooden pillars.  The catwalk is about 3 meters by 15 meters long 
and extends out into a large mass of bodies who are standing throughout the 
hall.  To the left of the catwalk is a small table, where three judges and 
the announcer are seated.  Along the upper wall to the hall is a large sign 
which reads "Residents of Nerima Welcome to The 1996 Miss Martial Arts Beauty 
Pageant".  The microphone screeches as the announcer commentates on the 
event.  

Announcer: Welcome back to the Nerima District's Miss Martial Arts Beauty 
Pageant.  What an exciting competition it has been so far.  Of the nine 
contestants four have already either been disqualified or eliminated.  The 
pressure is on to see who will become Miss Nerima!!!  For now though lets 
meet our contestants.  Looking stunning in her Wedding gown is Miss Miyaka 
Tochigi.  Next in line is the charming purple haired Amazon Miss Shampoo.  
Our next contestants has surprised us all by making it into the second 
round.
Tsubasa: hey?
Announcer: Miss Tsubasa Kurenai!!  Our last two contestants are cousins Miss 
Akane Tendo who hasn't seen much of the action yet.

Akane gives Ranma a dark look.

Announcer: And Miss Ranko Tendo who seems to be harbouring some kind of 
personal vendetta against Miss Miyaka.  But lets face it ladies and gentlemen 
no Pageant would be complete without a little skullduggery.  Now let round 
two begin.  (Dead serious voice) This will be the second round, there will be 
no kicking punching or striking in anyway without the use of some piece of 
womens accessories.  Fight!!!

Ranma(to Akane): Let Shampoo finish off Tsubasa then watch your back.

Akane gives Ranma another Dark look.

Akane: Fine Ranma, I'm not a child you know!
Ranma: Just do it O.K.  (Shaking her head and muttering under her breath) 
Ditz!

		*********************************

Shampoo lowers herself into an attack position and readies herself for the 
strike.  Tsubasa like wise moves into a combat position and stares Shampoo 
down.  Then Tsubasa leaps into the attack.  Tsubasa runs strait at Shampoo 
who quickly dodges by doing a one handed cartwheel to the left.  As Tsubasa 
continues to run past where Shampoo had been, Shampoo pulls out a pair of 
gloves, which she quickly puts on.  Tsubasa somewhat confused stops in mid 
stride and turns to where Shampoo is standing. Shampoo continues to look at 
him in open contempt.

Tsubasa: No fair! Fight me like a man!
Shampoo: Stupid! This girl fighting, not boy fighting.  Shampoo finish you 
now!
Tsubasa: Oh you think so huh? I'm going to get you for what you did to my 
dear, dear Ukyou.

Tsubasa runs strait at Shampoo, who in response flings a large clump of what 
looks like dirt or mud at Tsubasa's face.

Shampoo:  Mud Treatment strike!

Tsubasa reals from the attack, momentarily blinded by the mud, which is all 
over his face. Tsubasa tries to scrape it out of his eyes, but too late as 
Shampoo comes in and starts smothering Tsubasa's hair with some kind of 
putty.

Shampoo: Industrial strength Hair Putty manuever.

Shampoo flips backwards out of range as Tsubasa, starts blindly running 
around the stage trying to remove the putty from his hair.  Finally he falls 
off the stage and into the crowd.

Announcer: Contestant Tsubasa has been eliminated.  

The crowd cheers and a certain duck quacks.  Shampoo smiles smugly and 
removes her gloves.  

Akane: Hey Shampoo catch!!!

Shampoo whirls around as three lipstick knives fly from an air-bourne Akane 
strait towards her.

		*********************************************
Miyaka's arms swings blurringly to and fro as she throws four lipstick knives 
sequentially at the female Ranma.  Ranma in a defensive position starts 
parrying the knives with her right hand, knocking each and everyone of them 
into her left.

Ranma: Think again sis'
Miyaka(thinking): This girl is really good, how did she get to be so fast?
Ranma: If that's the best you can do you might as well give up now.
Miyaka: Ha! I haven't even started!
Ranma: Good that means I wont have to hold back!
Miyaka: Is that supposed to scare me?

Miyaka leaps into the attack brandishing an eye liner in her right hand.  In 
her left she has a large amount of cotton balls covered in some sort of white 
powder.  Moving in she swings with her right across Ranma's eye line.  Ranma 
ducks backward using her hips to move her entire body out of the way. Miyaka 
follows up with the cotton balls and strikes at Ranma's face hitting her 
squarely in the nose.

Miyaka: Powder the nose technique!

Ranma chokes for a second, as the powder surrounds her face leaving a thick 
layer of powder evenly distributed across her face.  Whilst Ranma struggles 
to remove the powder Miyaka throws her eye liner at the roof.  The eyeliner 
hits one of the automatic sprinkers which sends a shower of water down ontop 
of Ranma.  Miyaka leaps into safety under the stage overhanging roof. 

Ranma(thinking): What is this stuff?
Miyaka: How did you like my technique?  Its quick drying cement you will never 
get it off.  Ahahahahaha!

Ranma struggles to get the cement which has fuzed itself to her face off.  She 
leaps into the air and lands safely some distance from Miyaka.  

Ranma(thinking): It can't end like this.

She runs blindly towards Miyaka.

		*********************************************  

Akane raised her nail file threateningly at Shampoo.  Shampoo meanwhile 
looks at Akane.  She places another pair of thin plastic gloves over her 
hands coated in some sort of lubricant.  Akane springs into action and swings 
her nail file at Shampoo's nails.  Deftly her opponent twists out of the way.  
Akane back spin kicks at Shampoo using her high heel shoe as a weapon rather 
than strike directly with her leg.   Shampoo is ready for it through and she 
catches Akane's leg with her hands and quickly slips the lubricant all over 
Akane's leg.  Surprised Akane leaps out of harms way and lands nimbly under 
the stages roof.  Shampoo leaps safely onto the stage and calmly removes her 
gloves.

Akane: Uuuuurrrggghhhhh What is this stuff.

Shampoo is about to reply when Miyaka's eyeliner suddenly hits the automatic 
sprinkler.  Shampoo moves quickly and doing a series of cartwheels, flips and 
leaps lands safely under the stage overhang as the water hits the catwalk 
behind her.  Akane falls back to a safe distance, readying her nail file.  
Shampoo meanwhile brings out a length of material of some sort and moves 
slowly in towards Akane.  Akane wearily watches Shampoo, and starts circling 
around.  

Shampoo: Leg Wax offencive!!!

Shampoo using the material in a whip like fashion hits Akane's lubricated 
leg.  The material sticks itself to her leg.  Just as suddenly Shampoo flicks 
the material off, and with a tearing sound takes Akane's leg hair with it.

Akane: AARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!
Audience: EEeeewwwwwww!!!!
Nabiki: What a terrifying technique.
Kasumi: Oh my oh my oh my!
Soun: (crying) My little girl!
Shampoo: You no can beat Shampoo.  You give up now, let Shampoo win O.K.
Akane: Take this!

Outraged Akane leaps into close quarters with Shampoo.  Akane's hands begin 
to move at blurring speeds.  Shampoo responds with a similar degree of 
tenacity.  Various instruments of makeup fly between the two, but none 
succeed in making contact with either girl.  After a few minutes of this 
Shampoo jumps backwards and the two stand looking at each other panting.  
Shampoo stares at Akane, Akane stares at Shampoo.  Shampoo continues staring 
at Akane.  Ranma blindly runs strait through the staring contest waving her 
arms wildly with a thin sheet of concrete embedded onto her face.  
	The two break off their staring contest as Ranma runs in the general 
direction of Miyaka.  Sadly one of the wooden pillars gets in the way, and 
Ranma runs head first into the pillar and succeeds not only in breaking the 
pillar in two, but also in shattering the concrete in the process.  Sadly 
Ranma no longer seems to be conscious, so she doesn't appreciate her 
achievement.

Akane(concerned): RANMA!
Miyaka: ..and now for the finish!
Shampoo: Now Shampoo's chance!

Miyaka and Shampoo leap into the air as Akane closes the distance between 
herself and Ranma.  Fortunately Akane gets there first and grabbing Ranma by 
her pony tail drags her out onto the catwalk.  Ranma bounces up and down as 
Akane runs along the catwalk. As she is being dragged Ranma regains 
consciousness.

Ranma: Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!!

Reaching the end of the catwalk Akane swings around to face Miyaka and 
Shampoo.  Neither of whom have left the safety of the covered stage.  As 
Akane swings around Ranma (still being held by Akane) swings in a 180 degree 
arc over the crowd.  Her ponytail acting as the fulcrum.  She crashes back 
onto the stage as the last of the sprinkler water falls from the roof.

Ranma: That hurt you know!
Akane: Are you O.K?
Ranma: Akane.. Why did you have to interfere I was doing just fine without 
you?
Akane: What did you say?
Ranma: I said I didn't need your help.  Why can't you fight your own battles?
Akane: I can't believe you just said that to me!  Here I am trying to save 
your skin, and all you can say is Butt out! Why you ungrateful....

Akane slams her left foot into the stage dislodging a plank of wood.  The 
plank flies up into the air and she catches it with her left hand.

Ranma: Whoah Akane lets not over react here.  I mean just don't get in my way 
from now on, and we'll call it even.
Akane: DIE RANNNNNNMMMMMAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 
  
Akane starts chasing Ranma around the stage with the piece of wood raised 
threateningly above her head. Ranma arms outstretched runs around in circles 
trying to escape Akane's wrath.  

Announcer: Well this is a surprise the Tendo girls are fighting each other!
Nodoka(To Kasumi): Are they always like this?
Kasumi: Oh no. Normally they fight all the time.
Nabiki(to announcer): Umm... Isn't a piece of wood an illegal weapon?
Announcer: Yeah but we can't actually disqualify her unless she hits the 
other girl with it.
Nabiki: Wouldn't that remove the other girl from the competition too?
Announcer: True, but hey those are the rules.
Nabiki: Oh! By the way we have a betting pool going on who is going to win.  
Wanna make a little wager.
Announcer: What kind of odds are you running.
Nabiki: Well .. lets see now......

Miyaka and Shampoo watch (as well as the rest of the crowd) in disbelief as 
Akane chases Ranma around and around the stage.

Miyaka(to Shampoo): Those two are supposed to be a team right.
Shampoo(obviously enjoying herself): Mmmmhmmm!

Miyaka looks slyly at Shampoo and then throws something onto the ground, 
which explodes into a cloud of smoke.

Miyaka: Face Powder Smokescreen.

Shampoo starts coughing and falls back, bringing out a set of nose hair 
scissors.  

Miyaka: Here have some perfume!

Miyaka sprays perfume towards Shampoo who leaps out of the way.  The perfume 
spray hits the floor and starts eating its way through the wood.

Shampoo: Aiyaaa!
Miyaka: Oh did I forget to mention I slipped in a little Sulphuric acid.  
Adds a bit of spice!

Shampoo regards Miyaka solemnly and then runs into striking range.  Miyaka 
brings up the acid perfume and sprays towards Shampoo who skillfully dodges 
out of the way.  Shampoo attacks with multiple scissor strikes on Miyaka's 
wedding dress shredding it to pieces.   Shampoo leaps back and regards her 
handiwork with a certain degree of pride.  Strangely Miyaka doesn't seem all 
that upset.

Shampoo: Ha you lose!(makes a face) Nyaaaa!
Miyaka: Silly girl! I don't know what rules you play in China.  But by 
Japanese rules this is just a minor obstacle.
Shampoo: But dress is ruined, you no can continue modelling.
Miyaka: Ha I'm no longer modelling a Wedding dress.  I'm modelling Womens 
lingerie.

Shampoo stares in shock as Miyaka strips to her undergarments.  She smiles 
smugly at her opponent.

Boy in crowd1(In tears): Oh what a wonderful contest!
Boy2(In tears): What a fabulous technique!
Boy3(In tears): Truly a benevolent woman!
Boy4(in tears): There could be no one better to model womens undergarments.
   
Miyaka continues smiling smugly at Shampoo.  Then suddenly her face faults, 
and her eyes go wide with shock.

Miyaka: What the?
Happosai(attached to Miyaka's butt):Oh how sweet it is!!Oh baby how 'bout a 
game of love love.
Miyaka: EEEEYYYYYeeeeewwwwww.  What is it? Get it off! Get it off!
Announcer: Oh my god.  Miss Tochigi is being assaulted by some kind of hideous 
monster.
Happosai: Who's a hideous monster? (still attached to Miyaka's butt)  I'm 
merely admiring this girls modelling ability! Can't a fellow show his 
appreciation to a woman anymore? Why I never!

Ranma (still being chased by Akane) speeds past Miyaka and belts Happosai in 
the head as he goes.  Happosai flies through the air into the crowd, and lands 
on the back of his neck.

Happosai: What the? How dare you attack me so.  Oh my....

Happosai looks up at a particular pair of breasts.

Happosai: Well I never.  I recognise those!

Happosai's focus changes to the owner of the breasts, Nodoka.

Nodoka: The Freak!
Happosai(back on his feet):Why Nodoka Saotome (leaps towards her breasts) 
Its been so long.

WHACK

In mid arc Happosai's leap is cut short as a large wooden sign slams into 
his head.  Happosai falls leaving a small crater in the ground.

Happosai: Why you...

Genma Panda stands determined over Happosai.  He stares down at him 
impassively for a few seconds.  Nodoka shocked looks at her unusual saviour.  
The Panda stands there for a few moments and then he blinks.  He then blinks 
again and shakes his head as if coming back to his senses.

Happosai: How dare you attack your Master so. I won't allow it!
Nodoka: Master?!?  What's going on here? What did he mean by Master?
Kasumi(Quietly to Soun): Father whats wrong? You look concerned.
Soun: You obviously don't understand the full implications of Saotome's 
predicament.  He faces death on two sides.  On the one hand if he sides with 
the Master, Happosai will certainly let slip his little secret.  If that 
happens he and Ranma will both be forced to commit seppuku.  On the other 
hand, if he sides with his wife he will almost certainly have to face the 
Masters wrath.  It is a no win situation.  Which will he choose?  

Panda(grovel beg grovel):<Forgive me Master! Forgive me!>

Kasumi and Nabiki fall to the ground in shock.

Soun: Yes! That's exactly what I would have done!

		******************************************
Meanwhile the four remaining contestants in the beauty pageant stand side by 
side watching the exchange between Genma and Happosai.

Miyaka: What is that thing?
Ranma: Better that you don't know. Oh yeah where were we?  

Ranma leaps at Miyaka and the two start exchanging blows.  (Neither managing 
to score a hit.)  Shampoo meanwhile turns to Akane and again proceeds to put 
on a new set of plastic gloves.

Akane: How many of those things do you have?
Shampoo: Enough for Shampoo to beat you.

Shampoo leaps at Akane a bottle of shampoo in her hand. Akane leaps to the 
side and brings out a set of scissors.  Shampoo spins in midair and landing 
safely on the catwalk leaps again at Akane.  Akane slightly intimidated falls 
back a step as Shampoo closes in.  She then leaps into the air herself, over 
Shampoo's head. Frustrated Shampoo lands and spins again facing Akane.  It 
is obvious that she is getting tired.

Akane: Your not getting me with that attack of yours twice.
Shampoo: (thinking) Shampoo no can keep this up! (out-loud) Time to finish 
fight!
Akane: If thats the way you want it.

Akane and Shampoo again leap at each other. 

Akane: Now just like Auntie taught me.

As they draw closer Akane begins striking back and forth at Shampoo's dress.  
As she does this she twists in mid air.  Shampoo desperately tries to get a 
glove to Akane's hair but she is too slow from battle fatigue.  The two land 
at opposite ends of the catwalk.  Akane is unscathed, but Shampoo's dress is 
shredded.  Exhausted and defeated Shampoo collapses to the ground.

Announcer: Miss Shampoo has been eliminated
Shampoo: Shampoo beaten.  (She bows her head)
Akane(thinking): What now?

Miyaka moves in with the hair dryer.  Ranma back spin kicks the dryer out of 
her hand.  Ranma completing her spin throws a "sunscreen for lips" at Miyaka 
who ducks out of the way.  So it continues for a few minutes.  Strike, parry, 
strike, dodge, dodge, disarm, throw, miss, kick, flip. On and on they fight.  
Eventually about the time of Shampoo's defeat both opponents leap back and 
regard each other, breathing heavily.

Miyaka(thinking): When is this girl going to go down? Never have I faced such 
a tenacious opponent.
Ranma(thinking): I can't keep this up much longer.

Miyaka slowly draws a number of pieces of make up from her arsenal.  Ranma 
likewise follows suit. The regard each other for a minute.

Miyaka: I think its well past time I finished this.
Ranma: Funny, I was thinking much the same thing.

The two opponents leap at each other Miyaka's hands start moving in a 
peculiar fashion as she closes the distance.   Ranma simply readies herself 
for the pass.

Ranma: Multiple 22 point make up strike!
Miyaka: Ultimate Make over Technique!

As Ranma passes she screams.

Ranma: TENSHIN AMAGURIKEN!!!!

Both contestants land safely at opposite ends of the catwalk, not unlike 
Shampoo and Akane's  encounter moments before.  Ranma turns to face Miyaka.  
She has a large streak of lipstick across her face.  Miyaka turns to face 
Ranma.  Her make up has been applied to make her look like a sad clown.  

Announcer: Both contestants Ranko Tendo and Miyaka Tochigi lose! The winner 
of the Miss Martial Arts Beauty Pageant for the Nerima district is AKANE 
TENDO!!!!!!!!
Soun: YES!!!! She Won! She Won!!!
Kasumi: Yaay!

Soun and Kasumi start jumping up and down in Joy.  Nodoka looks on with pride 
clearly shining on her face.  A giant Panda with multiple band-aids bandages 
and a sling over one arm, from Happosai inflicted wounds holds up a sign very 
unenthusiastically.

Panda: <Whoopi>

Akane simply stands stunned as the judges come onto the catwalk and give her 
a bouquet of flower, a crown, and a congratulatory kiss on the cheek.  Tears 
begin to flow from her eyes as the emotion of the moment takes over.  She 
stands in the centre of the stage looking dazzling as the crowd cheers, 
yells and whoops her name.  
		**************************************

Ranma now male walks alongside Akane back towards the Tendo Dojo.  Ranma 
looks very amusing as he can't stop swinging his hips.  

Ranma: Dammit this is annoying!
Akane: Uh Ranma?
Rama: Yeah?
Akane: I well... I wanted to say.......
Ukyou: Hi kids sorry to interrupt!

They both stop to see Ukyou standing in the road waiting for them.  

Ukyou: Congratulations Akane. Well I guess your... uh .... well Ranma's one 
true love now. (sniff)
Akane: Ukyou?
Ukyou:  I..  uh ... well since I lost and we did have that little bet... I 
just wanted to tell you I won't... uh I wont.....
Shampoo: Ranma you fight Shampoo!
Ranma: What?

Shampoo leaps at Ranma and begins attacking him with her bonbari.  Ranma .
blocks one of them sending it hurling into the air.

Ranma: What the? What do you think your doing?
Shampoo: Oh dear (half heartedly) Ranma beat Shampoo again, that means 
Shampoo have to marry Ranma again.
Ukyou: Hey no fair thats cheating!  Ranchan if she's not going to take it I 
don't see why I should have to?
Ryouga: Ranma Saotome!
Ranma: What Ryouga?
Ryouga: I have come her today in order to beat you, so that you will be 
unable to compete in the beauty pageant!
Ranma: Sorry to tell you Ryouga. The beauty pageant's already over.
Ryouga: Ha... (looks sternly at Ranma) You think I'm going to let a petty 
detail like THAT stop me!
Kunou: Ranma Saotome release your slaves from your torturous spell.  I can 
allow this violation to continue no longer!
Ranma: What the?
Mousse: Ranma how could you string Shampoo along like that.  Die!!!!!!!

Ranma, Ryouga, Kunou, and Mousse all disappear in a cloud of smoke. Ranma can 
be heard screaming from within the mess.  Shampoo and Ukyou soon begin 
fighting each other, until only Akane is left standing on the sideline.

Akane: Oh good grief!

Authors Final Note:  Finished! Thank God I thought that would never end.  
O.K apologies for misleading everyone into thinking that this was going to be 
shorter than it actually was.  I honestly thought it would end up that way.  
Anyway no harm done if you enjoyed it, since you enjoyed it that much longer.  
If you didn't well its your own fault for reading it. I have no sympathy for 
you whatsoever. O.K final note I may or may not do another story depending on 
the response I get.  If I do I doubt it will be a sequel to this one.  I have 
three possible stories in mind, two of which are crossovers.  Mind you 
crossovers almost never work so I dunno. If I do write another, it will 
probably be a while off since Uni is getting a wee bit hectic.  I hope you 
liked Miyaka, I didn't get to explore her personality as much as I wanted, but 
I didn't want to take the focus of the story away from Ranma, since it is his 
series.  I tried to make her (if you will excuse the choice of adjectives) As 
Takahashi as possible.  ie The kind of character who would rock up in the 
series. Oh well I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
