Well...

There are a couple of reasons why I started the list.  First of all 
was the use of such mailing lists by others on the ML, such as Willmore 
and Biles (BTW, I apologize if I mention them rather frequently; for 
most of the summer, they were the only contacts I had with fanfic 
writing).  An early mailing list would allow others to view my work 
earlier while at the same time providing me an extra level of C&C.  
This is important now that I'm actually writing a first draft here 
on the computer, rather than my usual method of writing one or two 
drafts on paper, then typing it in to the ML.     

Also, my own mailing list has lots of people who find this list too 
spammy...They won't be getting a hundred messages a day from ME :)
