That's right. And the NRA's position in the past has been that those same
kinds of rifle bullets (SWAT-type armor penetrators) should not be illegal
because that might infringe on someone's hunting rights. I ask again, just
what does the NRA think hunters need those kinds of bullets for?

Well, it's kinda hard to kill a water buffalo, rhino, or bear with a
bullet that's not powerful enough to rip through body armor. And one
of the aforementioned creatures, when wounded, can kill the hunter.
Not pleasant to be trampled/shredded to pieces just because your bullet
wasn't strong enough.

Well, I wasn't referring to any specific piece of legislation in my
discussion of "Cop Killer" bullets, but I do know what legislation you are
talking about here. Why is the NRA so opposed to such legislation when it
effects things that have no obvious connection (or at least obvious to me)
to the sporting or hunting use of weapons?

"Cop Killer Bullets", as first reported by CBS(or was it another network?)
were developed by ex-cops for cops, and available _only_ to cops as
armor-piercing rounds to shoot at criminals behind car doors. Somehow,
they got hold of the bullets and did a "special" where they blasted holes
in body armor and talked about criminals using those bullets...

Hehe. Now this gives me an idea for an interesting fanfic... >:)
