Could we agree to bring a complete stop to this particular piece of very
off-topic spam right now?

First, I've been following this argument since the 1980's, and it's been a
long time since I've heard a truly new point brought to the debate by either
side (both sides love to quote all the new studies that support their
beliefs, though).  Although I can delete this thread at no cost, as I pay a
flat rate for net access, others who pay by the hour may be slightly more
annoyed.

Second, a very recent debate on censorship of animated shows on American
television on r.a.a.misc rapidly degenerated into the exact same argument
about gun ownership now beginning on the FFML.  Those articles are probably
still available in that newsgroup for anyone who's still interested in
reading them.  Talk.politics.guns offers 24/7 service.

I'm sorry to be rude, but I know exactly how much noise this particular
issue can generate, and I really don't think we'll discover anything new by
pursuing it.  I'll return to lurking, now.
