Mr. Bennett, Miss Seawright, have you ever met or even _seen_ an
American that wasn't projected onto a television set?
Yep. I know quite a lot of them and they all can take teasing. The only ones
that can't seem to be patriots. They are the most fun to tease simply because
of their over-bearing attitudes and their inability to make fun of
themselves.
I assumed an adult would have figured out this stuff that I at my young
age have already realized.
I think there's a kind of line between "making fun of" and just
plain out "insulting." It's easy to "make fun of" Americans if you're
not one...if anything, I've learned from making fun of countless people
throughout my life that if you're the one getting ridiculed, things
just don't seem so "funny." So many people from countries besides the
US bash the US, and so when someone makes fun of it, I could say at
least I feel kind of sensitive about it. Of course, you'll probably
respond to that last sentence with a smart-assed comment like "ooh,
poor baby!" since that is what so much of your reply to this Provinc-
ialism letter contains. Oh, or maybe "lump it" or "you can't make me
admit nothin'!" <-- those are the way most net.arguments _everywhere_
end, anyways, so don't worry about disappointing me ...
of course, no hard feelings, because if everyone believe in them, there
might be a total of one person who would actually talk to me. ;)
