HOLD ON
by Jeff Rutsch
*Grammar: 8
*Story: 9 Very nice.
*Characters: 8 Mr. Rutsch handled them very well. Realistic in a way
and you really know the character's thoughts. But there seem to be lacking
something.
*Drama: 7
*Lemon: 1
*Overall: 9 Just like Mr. Lawson said, this is a great contender
for the "Best Ranma Fic of 1996," along with _Heart of the
Family_. The end part with Tofu and Kasumi seemed a little
rushed, I don't know if he did that on purpose. But that's the
only problem I saw, except maybe he should clean up the
dialogs a little bit at the dinner scene.
KIMAGURE ORANGE COLLEGE EPOSIDE TWO
by Stephen Tsai and the KOC gang.
*Grammar: 8 Choppy Scripting. Then again, nobody has every mastered the
scripting format except for maybe John Biles in his later works. Kensu and
Benares came close though.
*Story: 9
*Characters: 6 Lots of new characters. Since I don't know much about them,
I can't really give him a high score. The new characters really hurt the
flow, I was too busy trying to figure out who was who than reading the story.
*Humor: 4 Not much, but there wasn't much humor in the original KOR.
*Drama: 5
*Overall: 8 Great, this might be the best KOR fanfic of all time. It
might even be better than "Summer Cruise," later on. I can't wait to read
more. But all the new characters introduced in this characters were hard to
follow.
THY INWARD LOVE PART 1: OF MEN AND PANDAS
by Richard Lawson
*Grammar: 8
*Story: 8 This is only the first chapter, but I can tell it's going
somewhere. It's developing nicely.
*Characters: 7 Lawson had a little trouble here. If this wasn't a pure
Ranma fic, I wouldn't care, but it seems like it is. Nabiki slapping Ranma?
Nabiki is like Kasumi, underdeveloped in the manga. Even though Nabiki may
act like this in between panels, not in the manga. But his characterization
of Nabiki is minor, it's probably used to develop the plot more. Richard
also mentioned Nadoka as a carbon copy of Kasumi. In my opinion, I don't
think she is; I think she is more developed, even though she was in fewer
episodes than Kasumi.
Drama: 7
Overall: 8 Great. I finally got to read this and it's really going great.
If I'm going to be super nit-picky, I would take out the prom thing in the
beginning. I don't think there is a such thing as a prom in Japan. I also
don't think High School Grad is a big deal in Japan. But I don't know, I
don't live there. Also, the sparring scene between Genma and Ranma was
confusing and hard to visualize.
