Note you read before story:
Well, this is my first fanfic, so I've sorta got an excuse if you don't
like it. 'Course, if I get really fried by flames I'll post the one I
did before on r.a.a.s and then all you Ranma fans who download all the
Ranma stories (like me) will have a totally crap story sitting on your
disk. Not much of a revenge, I guess. But you WOULD be sorry...
Anyway, Ranma 1/2 was created by Omnipotent Takahashi-dono and not me,
so she must be really brilliant. It also means that I'm using her stuff,
but that's okay because Japanese writers feel praised when people do
that. Also, so many other people have done it before me, and not got
shot, so it must be alright.
The Street Fighter II movie is owned by Capcom and was created by
Hiroshi Inagaki, Akio Sakai, Kenichi Imai and Gisaburo Sugii, among
others surely. Or I could just say that I thought up the scene myself
and have never heard of SFII, then I wouldn't have to write this bit.
Blow.
Okay, enough of this. Hope you enjoy this, and don't think its too
stupid, and that I should go stand in front of a train, because I'm a
very obliging person. See you afterwards!

Addendum: If anyone's already written a Ranma fanfic called 'Nemesis',
I'm really sorry, but I didn't know about it.

RANMA WAS STANCED in a field of long grass, near a road a few dozen
metres away. It was late at night, but time did not matter. The wind
was blowing a gale, and fierce lightning often broke the darkness.
Ranma's opponent stood shakily and faced him. The enormous muscle-
bound man had taken a heavy blow, but was going to give it one last
go. Ranma stood firm, breathing heavily, as the man began staggering
forward.
Ranma collected his chi, creating an aura which challenged the night's
darkness, and to which the advancing fighter seemed oblivious. The man,
blinded by desperate fury, lurched and charged Ranma, roaring his anger.
With a motion of his hands, Ranma focussed his energy into a yellow
fireball before his chest. The man, almost upon him now, appeared to
have lost his mind in his rage. Putting all of his confidence of victory
into his effort, Ranma pulled his hands back, then thrust them forward
fiercely.
"EKEEEEEEE!!!!!" he roared as the man was consumed in the huge glow of
the Moukou Takabisha --.
Ranma's eyes snapped open as debris rained upon him. He instinctively
shut them again.
At the Nekohanten, cologne watched the pillar of chi fade into the sky
and knew that no one had produced such a strong blast for centuries.
He's the man for Shampoo, alright, she mused.
Ranma opened his eyes once more. The stars were particularly clear to-
night, but he could see only a few of them through the hole in the roof.
There was another hole where Panda had jumped in surprise. Even now
lights were coming on and Ranma could hear footsteps coming closer.
He knew that there'd be hell to pay.

In a place which was void, without light, dark or dimensions, an evil
stirred. Once again it felt the need to return to the Human world. And
instinctively it knew the cause of the need.
It would have to destroy the martial artist known as Saotome Ranma.

It was a lovely day and the sky over Nerima was shared equally by blue
and white. The birds chirped in the trees, accompanied by the gentle
rustle of the leaves in the light wind. It was a lovely calm day but
for the sounds of rebuilding that came from a certain dojo.
Kasumi heard someone at the door, but when she openned it there was no
one to be seen. However, a letter had been left on the step. She picked
it up and found that it was addressed to Ranma.
  "Ranma-kun!" Kasumi called.
The hammering which had permeated the air till then stopped.
"What is it, Kasumi-san?" he said, leaning over the veranda.
"There's a letter for you... I think its another challenge."
Ranma dropped effortlessly from the roof. Kasumi passed him the letter
with a smile.
All it said was: "I must destroy you. I will do this at your school's
soccer field tomorrow."
For some reason reading this filled Ranma with a sense of forboding.
This was not your usual challenge. Even Ryouga doesn't write them like
this, he thought.
  "Well?" Kasumi inquired.
"You're right, Kasumi-san," Ranma said, and leaped back onto the roof.
Kasumi returned to the kitchen. Just then, Akane came through the door.
  "Oneechan! Tadaima!"
"Welcome, Akane-chan. Did you get the beef?"
  "Hai." Akane entered the kitchen.
Kasumi thought for a moment and decided that she was too busy. She
would have to get Akane to help her.
"Could you cut the meat, Akane-chan? I have all this to do."
"Of course!" Akane said, delighted at the chance to help. Besides,
she thought, how can I mess up cutting some meat?
Kasumi watched Akane for a short while, then returned to her
preparations. She can't ruin the meal by cutting the meat... she thought.
Ranma's hammering started up again. Akane's cutting fell into rythm
with the noise, at which she felt sudden indignation.
"Hasn't he finished that yet?" she said, a little too loudly.
Kasumi, of course, did not notice Akane's indnignation. "He's fixed
everything except the roof and tiles. Ranma really seemed sorry for
making that hole."
"Yeah," Akane said, as she remmembered pounding Ranma for having the
life scared out of her by the blast, which passed right through her room.
"Oh, I forgot," Kasumi smiled. "Ranma received a challenge today."
Akane said, "Oh..." and continued her slicing. Everything had been
somewhat peaceful for the past week. It's about time something like
this happened, she mused.

That night the Tendou dining room was quiet, apart from the sounds of
Japanese eating, most noticably that of Ranma.
Finally he said, "This is great Kasumi-san! I'm so starved from --"
he fell quiet, not wishing to repeat the morning's scene.
The other household members showed their agreement.
"I'm glad you like it. Akane-chan sliced the meat, so thank her as
well."
Of course, there was sudden silence.
"I only sliced it!" Akane reassured them.
This is getting old, Ranma sighed, and continued eating. It tasted
delicious, and the clutz couldn't poison it just by slicing the beef...
could she?
Ranma noticed the others start eating again. Akane was looking at him
with a mixture of hope and curiosity, but looked away when Ranma saw
her.
  "Fu," Ranma breathed.

"Oh Ranchan, I hope you'll be alright!" Ukyou said.
The Furinkan students had all gathered on the field after hearing of
the challenge. Ukyou, Akane and her friends and Ranma's friends were
gathered around Ranma.
"Relax Ucchan," Ranma replied, then to everyone, "Is he here yet?"
"There's someone over there!" was the shouted answer.
They looked to see a black-haired youth walking past the the goal net.
His skin was dark, and he wore a similarly shaded Chinese costume,
though unlike Ranma's blue shirt.
"One of your _friends_ from China?" Akane asked. Ranma shook his head,
and advanced to meet his opponent.
"I'm Ranma," he declared. "Who're you?"
"You may call me your Nemesis," he replied in a dry, almost lifeless
voice. He took a stance.
Ranma shifted his feet in response. "So what's your beef?"
Nemesis smirked. "The reason for this challenge is a bit over your
head. Rest assured, though, that it is all of your own doing."
Ranma felt indignant. "What are you talking about?"
"Enough! Prepare to meet your end!"
The youth lunged, and Ranma met the attack. They moved close, grappled
and traded blows, then drew back.
Nemesis spoke, "You see I'm only doing my --" he left off, suddenly
attacking. But Ranma was aquainted with the 'Attack in mid-sentence'
routine and easily evaded the low fly kick, rocking sideways to deliver
an elbow in the back.
The fighters leapt apart. "Where did you say you're from?" Ranma
asked conversationally, as he was inclined to do whilst in combat.
"My place of origin --" Nemesis began, jumping to deliver a fly kick,
"-- Is beyond your comprehension! HIYYAAA!" The ground under his foot
collapsed, as Ranma had swiftly leapt away.
"I get the feeling that you don't wanna tell me something." Ranma led
with his fist, but only caught his opponent's shirt.
Nemesis could not find an opening as he analysed Ranma's style. It was
Musabetsu kakutougi, and though he had faced it before, this beplaited
teenager was a master. He circled, with Ranma mirroring each step.
Ranma quickly decided to get serious. He feigned a slip, and Nemesis
immediately charged and swung a high roundhouse. Ranma dropped and
sweeped Nemesis' legs, sprang back up to deliver a powerful flip-
kick. Landing before Nemesis, Ranma took a freak blow to his jaw, but
continued unfazed, parrying another swing to move in, hit Nemesis' gut
with his knee, and extend his leg into a kick to the chest.
Nemesis, panting, attempted to reply with a multikick roundhouse which
missed Ranma by a whisker before he could reach safe distance. As Ranma
regained his balance, his eyes widened as Nemesis flew at him, his out-
stretched fist ablaze with bright blue energy.
  "CHIKARAKEN!!" was the Kiai.
Ranma was thrown back a dozen metres, his arms crossed before his face
to block. A gasp rose from the crowd, and Nemesis ran towards Ranma, who
was pulling himself up. Quickly improvizing a counter to his opponent's
move, Ranma dashed forward, grinning slightly, his fists connecting and
reconnecting in a brief blur, all before Nemesis had a chance to channel
his chi. The total force of the Tenshin Amaguriken combined with Nemesis'
momentum produced a devastating effect, hurling the youth back and
skidding onto the turf. He raised himself, as everyone looked on.
"Yoshi," Ranma said, relaxing his stance. "You coming again?"
"You haven't seen anything!" Nemesis yelled and leapt in fury, coming
at Ranma from above.
What's with this guy? Ranma wondered, then flipped himself. Standing
on one hand, stretching for maximum height as he performed the Shish-
kebab, catching Nemesis on the jaw.
The youth sprawled and retreated. He thought, He is stronger than yet
unlike any before him. I will have to unleash my full power upon him.
  "Well," Ranma said, "had enough?"
"You are a powerful fighter, Ranma, but I must finish this now."
Ahh, he was holding back, Ranma mused, he has more up his sleeve.
Nemesis performed some complicated hand movements, and Ranma, in readi-
ness, raised himself onto one leg.
Suddenly Nemesis launched himself forward, shouting his kiai. Ranma
jumped, but the tumbling kick barely missed him. Then Nemesis sprang
after Ranma, catching him in the armpit with a kick and following with
a punch to the solar plexus. Ranma, however, resisted the sharp pain
and locked Nemesis' limbs, keeping one fist free. As they fell, Nemesis
struggled to no avail to right himself, and could not help falling on
his back.
"Let's see how you stand up to _this_," Ranma whispered, sending his
fist into a blur. "KACHU TENSHIN AMAGURIKEN!!!" Pounding ceaselessly
all over Nemesis' front, he put all his strength into the last punch
as the two hit the ground.
Coughing, Nemesis desperately rolled away clutching his stomache.
"Give up yet?" Ranma panted. Nemesis grunted. Ranma saw his hands
begin to glow with a flickering fire-like light as he rose. "You will
be destroyed now!" Nemesis cried, "SOUSHU KAJINDA!!!"
Everyone's eyes shot open wide as a dazzling blade of fire erupted
from Nemesis' hands.
Time seemed to slow. By instinct, Ranma called and gathered his chi,
forming it into a savage ball in his hands, and hurled it. The reply
came: "MOUKOU TAKABISHA!!!!"
The two energies collided with blinding effect, but Akane and Ukyou
saw Nemesis leap in desperate anger from behind the blast to fall upon
Ranma. "Watch out!" they called.
Ranma was tired but ready, and on his descent Nemesis glimpsed the
confident smile Ranma (wild close-up shot to Ranma's face here) had for
him. Side-stepping, he brought all his effort and chi together one last
time. Ranma threw his fist upwards.
  "HIRYUU SHOTENHA!!!"
Needless to say, Nemesis completely disappeared from sight. As the
hurricane raged, Akane, Ukyou and the others came up to Ranma, who
barely kept his balance.
"That guy must be really stupid," Ukyou said, folding her arms.
"Fu," said Ranma. "He should've thrown it in."
  "Are you alright?" Akane asked.
"No sweat!" he paused. "But I get the feeling that this guy won't
leave it at this."
"Oh Ranma! You so strong!" Shampoo appeared from nowhere, discarded
her bicycle and locked Ranma into a bear-hug.
Nemesis was on his descent, and he saw all that happened next. Akane
prepared to concuss Ranma with her mallet, but Ukyou had already flat-
ened him. Ranma tried to put up an argument, but was whacked again.
He just lets that boy with the pony-tail hit him, Nemesis thought, like
he holds sway over what happens... Nemesis' train of thought was pain-
fully derailed by the ground at his fall's end.
Akane had been arguing with Shampoo, and Ranma was trying to calm
Ukyou, but everyone stopped when they heard the heavy thump. Ranma got
back up to watch Nemesis raise himself shakily.
"Don't tell me you want more." Ranma asked flatly.
Nemesis' mind raced with the seed of a plan forming. He answered, "I
will never be finished. You _will_ be destroyed, Saotome Ranma!" And
with that Nemesis disappeared as he had come - mysteriously.
"Who was that guy?" Akane wondered aloud.
"Doesn't matter. He'll be back. Whenever somebody challenges me, it
always goes way past the first fight."
The bell rang for the end of the break, and the large crowd headed
back to the buildings. A lot of the guys passed Ranma to congratulate
him.
"Let's celebrate your victory at my place tonight, Ranchan!" Ukyou
said, eyeing Shampoo who was preparing to latch on to Ranma once more.
They all agreed, except Shampoo, who left in a huff when Akane clonked
Ranma over the head for letting the Amazon hug him. Ukyou took his
collar and dragged him to the classroom.

The still air in Utchan's was warm from the sun streaming through the
windows, illuminating the dust, when Ukyou opened the door. Nobody had
arrived yet, and she left it open to show that she was ready for
business.
I might as well get a few customers before Ranchan comes, she
thought. Ukyou planned to close Utchan's for the private occasion. She
dropped her school bag by the stairs.
Ah! My first customer, she thought, sensing a presence. She walked
to the door, forgetting that she still wore her uniform. Seeing a
shadowed figure approaching, she bowed, smiling with her eyes, and
called, "Irrashai mase!"
An instant afterward, Ukyou knew something was wrong. Straightening
up, her hand went up behind her head, but never reached the grip of
the spatula.
Ukyou was pinned to the floor before she could blink, her small nose
centimetres from the face of her assailant who she recognised as
Ranma's vanquished opponent. Her first impulse was to scream, but she
found that she could not produce a sound. With all her might, she
finally managed to rasp, "Whatever you're doing, you'll be sorry."
In one swift motion Nemesis drew Ukyou up and held her in an un-
breakable hold. Ukyou struggled fiercely but in vain.
"I am forced to destroy Ranma by different methods than necessary
in the past," said the youth, who did not seem so youthful now. "I
will explain all, boy, when we get... back."
"But I'm not a --" Ukyou began. The world disappeared.

Ukyou felt as though she was slowly awakening. She did not know how
long she remained semi-conscious, but when she finally snapped out of
it, she was uncertain if she wished to remain so.
  The first thing she noticed was the complete absence of sensory input;
there was not a sound but her own erratic thoughts. She felt nothing:
she tried touching her face, and found that her shirt sleeve did not
even brush against her arm. She realised that they were not actually
there. Ukyou could not feel or see her body either. It was not black-
ness: it was nothing. Ukyou convinced herself that she simply could not
see.
She felt an overwhelming urge to curl into herself, into a fetal ball.
Is... is this death? Fear began to grip her. Did he... kill me? Oh-h-h...
Her despair was all the worse for having no body with which to express
it. Ranchan, she sobbed inwardly, now we'll never...
  YOU ARE CONSCIOUS.
The voice surprised Ukyou, but she was still deep in her sadness.
Eventually she asked, Who're you..?
I AM RANMA'S NEMESIS, it answered.
Did you kill me? Ukyou felt a little silly asking.
NO. THIS IS MY... PLACE. THERE IS NOTHING HERE BUT ME. IF YOU WANT,
I'LL GIVE YOU A BODY.
Ukyou could not explain the sensation of her heart starting, of feeling
her mouth moist and clothes against skin from _nothing_. She pulled her
knees up against the white school shirt, succumbing to the previous
urge. Her eyes immediately brimmed, though her despair was abating. She
hugged her legs.
I, UH, NOTICED THAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY A WOMAN.
  So, you're a hentai too.
DO NOT ANGER ME. WHO DO YOU THINK IS SUSTAINING YOU HERE? IT WAS A
TEST OF YOUR MORTALITY BRINGING YOU HERE.
You're not worried about killing me? I'm not surprised... you scumbag.
...PERHAPS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME. I AM NOT RANMA'S NEMESIS SOLEY. I
AM THAT WHICH KEEPS THE STRENGTH OF HUMANS IN CHECK. WHEN A TRULY GREAT
WORRIOR, MAN OR WOMAN, MAKES THEMSELF PROMINENT, I'M CALLED. THEY MUST
BE DESTROYED TO PREVENT THEM FROM TEACHING THE REST OF THE WORRIORS WHAT
THEY HAVE LEARNED.
  Why?
I CAN ONLY GUESS... IT'S JUST MY JOB.
Well, looks like you're out of it, 'cause you haven't got a hope of
beating Ranchan.
HE BEAT ME, YES. MANY HAVE I FOUGHT... THE GREAT WARRIORS OF CHINA,
THE GLADIATOR OF ATLANTIS, THE AZTECS, THE ANCIENT CELTS AND THE
WARRIOR WOMEN BEFORE THEM. ALL FELL TO MY... HAND. NOW I HAVE LOST.
_THAT_ IS WHY YOU'RE HERE.
Ukyou's head popped out of her knees.
WHAT ARE YOU TO RANMA, THAT YOU CAN BYPASS HIS DEFENCES SO EASILY?
Ukyou sniffed, said, I'm his fiance.
This seemed to cause Nemesis some confusion. WH-WHY DO YOU ATTACK HIM
THEN?
Ukyou thought. Sometimes he's a jerk. He can't really stand up to women
who use violence. And it's infuriating seeing shampoo...
Why am I telling this bastard..? she asked herself.
  THERE IS MORE TO THIS.
  Well...
The voice was commanding. TELL ME.
He has another fiance, Akane, and Shampoo is convinced by her stupid
village law that he has to marry her. Sometimes I can't stand it!
Good, Nemesis mused, she is afraid that he will reject her. She resents
him. I can exploit this.
COME ON - JUST RELAX. TELL ME ABOUT THIS TROUBLE.
Ukyou felt her consciousness slipping, try to cry a final warning, then
sink into the calm the voice now created. Ukyou began to get her misery
off her chest.
