Oh yeah? Well, in that episode where Geordie, some Bajoran woman
and some Romulan guy were caught in a transporter accident and
turned "immaterial": How come they could walk through walls and
people and stuff, but didn't fall through the floor into the grav
generator (or whatever they have)? And if normal matter was
immaterial to them - what did they *breathe*? Huh?! Answer me
*that*! :)

Those answers are all rather obvious, I would think.
The gravity field provides suport and traction for people who were
interphased like Geordie, Rho, and that romulan who's name doesn't
really matter. Why? Because Romulans aren't as stupid as Federation
people, who would have just set it up, without planning for accidents
like the one that happened.

As for air, I would assume that enough of it `naturally' goes
interphasic that they wouldn't suffocate, or the spell was set up so
that air they breathed in would be `rephased' into something that they
could breathe. ^_^

If you don't like the fantastic science of Star Trek ignore it. Or
accept it. Don't bitch about it, for there is no point to that.

What really gets me, though, is people scrambling Trek science, and
not even using real science in its place. No, that isn't what really
bothers me, what really bothers me is when people get Star Trek SOPs
and behaviour requirements wrong. A certain ST/BGC fanfic springs to
mind where they have AV bugs in Enterprise crew quarters. A Star
Fleet officer is trusted, and so there would not be constant
monitoring of their crew quarters by any means that could be
recorded/hacked/used elsewhere. A filter that listens for the string
`computer' seems obvious, most likely with all non-matching input
dumped directly to /dev/null .

And there is no way in any of Zandru's nine hells that anyone could
have gotten through Star Fleet Academy with that kind of insubordinate
attitude.

Sorry, had to get that out of my system,

You know WHY there aren't any straight jokes?

Because there's nothing funny about being straight!
